Now that I've figured out posting images , I can't get enough of it. Here's one I drew a while ago, when I thought it can't be that I haven't touched a pencil in two or more years. I know, her face is too round and all, but I think for someone who has given uo drawing regularly quite a while ago, it isn't even that bad...

Stalker - KICK ASS! You do charcoal drawings too? I haven't done any in a really long time. (Probably over 4 years ago now.) I never thought about doing a Roswell one. One night I'll have to try that. I think the last ones I did were of Ally McBeal, Neve Cambell and can't remember who else. Anyhow-- It's really good. I love how you did half her body. I've only really just done the faces- so that's pretty great!

Thank you. I have tried charcoal, but I tend to do better with pencil. Why have you stopped drawing? I haven't really done any Roswell stuff either except for this one, which came into existence precisely because I thought I had to try drawing again, and for lack of ideas I drew Majandra. I hate how I can never seem to get the proportions right though. Any chance I can get to see your charcoal stuff?

Sure you can! I mean I'm right in the middle of moving anyway so... I have to take all the pictures off the walls anyway. I'm just hoping I can scan it- because I drew mine on the 11x14 sheets- which is much bigger than the scanner And I guess I just got busy. Well actually after those I needed a change for awhile and went to oil paintings.. which I think I posted one of those a long time ago. Well they sort of sucked, then the little one was born and I just don't have the time lately. I'll see what I can do. Oh and you must do a Michael one now. Oh and that's weird. I do hear of alot of people who find pencil easier than charcoal... I always had a HUGE issue with pencil- so I hardly ever used them. They just didn't do what I needed. Same thing pretty much though.

Ah, right, forgot about you moving! Whenever you have time...I'll be here waiting... I've only tried oil once, and on paper. But I liked it a lot, so a few months ago I went to the place I normally go to get painting stuff, and they hadn't a single oil for sale, only that arcrylic stuff. I want to try get back to painting and drawing again, I stopped after I finished school. I had art as a major then, and my teacher was just a plain ed. Since then, I have barely touched a pencil, not to speak of brush, and I hate it. But I can't seem to get that love for it back. Dunno why. It sorta makes me sad, because I used to draw and paint a lot when I was little. Oh, draw a Michael now? I wanted to today, when I was frustrated because my paper wouldn't proceed. Then I went for a walk instead, so...next time, I will.

Stalker, it's good! Truly. Okay, maybe you didn't nail Majandra dead on, but taken apart from that, it's a really good drawing, especially since you didn't touch a pencil for two years. Keep trying. Roswell doesn't get made in one take per scene, and no drawing is perfect in the first draft.

Oh yes. Must have a Michael for the Maria. I'll try to get it scanned somehow this weekend for you. And I can totally relate to how you feel. It's like a love affair. Sometimes you've got it and can't put the medium down and other times you can go months/years to find it again.

I have a love affair with writing. I just can't *not* write. I can go months without writing a word, and then *boom* I'll have this inspiration and work almost non-stop in my free time for months. I went from August to October writing almost every day, and I stopped at 190 MS Word pages. Four years ago, I started playing around with two characters named Cassandra and Brian, and it's still going strong. I thought I'd ended that plot thread in August, but I got an idea, and that took off, and when that one died, I had another idea with my characters, so I'm off and running for at least another couple of years. *sighs* It's a form of therapy.

Zook - Glad you think it's okay. Actually I started trying writing after I had stopped painting, and I love it, but I'm a horrible horrible person when it comes to finishing something. Drawings I do get finished, paintings...well, that's another story. Sometimes I do. Others, often enough -- unfinished forever. So I have that huge bunch of started but never finished plots on my PC, just like I have tons of unfinished drawing/ painting stuff. Bunnie - Great! I can't wait! i tried looking for your oils, too, but they are no longer here, are they? If so, I'm blind again...

I have many unfinished stories, left hanging in the middle of an idea.

Thanks Stalker. :p And yeah they are the Huge ones. I couldn't fit them on the scanner. But I do notice now that I see them- how clean yours are (pencil vs charcoal) compared to mine which are much more "dirty". Big difference actually between the two mediums. I actually really like the appearence of yours much better- but I have the love for the feel of charcoal in my hands.

Jen - Yeah, that's the reason why I prefer pencil. It's not only that it's easier to keep the lines precise and the paper clean, it's also that with charcoal, you do a wrong line, and you can just throw the entire thing away. It's impossible to erase it completely. I like charcoal for the way you can get to do shadows though.

Stalker- SO TRUE. I mean you can even see what your talking about in my examples there. The "other" lines just never go away. I've learned to live with that now... and yes the shadowing effect rocks... it just always seemed to come to life more for me and the pencil would never shade enough for me. But the end result of the pencil comes out much nicer and cleaner for sure.
