Not so good news, I'm afraid. I just went surfing, and this is what I found: Quote: Quote: Frakes Didn't Talk To Radio Station
Author: Staff Date: 07-10-2003 Source: SyFy Portal Has Jonathan Frakes been talking to a British public radio station about whether or not he'll be involved with the "Superman" movie, and whether or not the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" cast will continue in movies? Apparently not.
Tanya Phegan, an assistant to Jonathan Frakes, who remains in England for production of "Thunderbirds," has told SyFy Portal that a recent interview posted on this site via Dark Horizons never took place.
"I'm afraid that all information listed on your site (regarding) Jonathan is incorrect, and the interview you referred to never took place," Phegan said.
In the original story, Frakes allegedly told the radio station that Paramount Pictures was no longer interested in doing TNG films because the previous film, "Star Trek: Nemesis," "didn't make enough money." He also hinted that there could be a possibility of a "Roswell" film based on the failed The WB and UPN series based on how the series episodes sold in a DVD release.
Finally, Frakes reportedly also said that he had not been approached to direct a "Superman" movie, but said he had heard the script was "great."
SyFy Portal news editor Michael Hinman said that while this site works hard to try and confirm stories -- even with a volunteer staff -- even fake stories are able to get through every once in a while.
"Sometimes, things like this happen, especially to Web-based news and rumors sites," Hinman said. "A lot of our news depends on other sites, and sometimes, fake stories can break through. While we work hard to confirm the validity of all our stories, it is an imperfect process. However, if we learn that something we posted was false, we will immediately let you, our readers, know."
At the time the story was posted, SyFy Portal did confirm that the British radio station used in the report did exist. However, SyFy Portal also tried to reach Frakes through his staff to confirm the interview, and Phegan's response was from that initial confirmation process.
from: SyFyPortalApparently, this was a reaction to this interview: Quote: Quote: Jonathan Frakes' Next: So why isn't "Thunderbirds" helmer Jonathan Frakes doing the new "Superman"? Seems that with all the tying of his name to the project, no-one actually went up and asked him. 'Dennis' got to speak with him for his community radio station SW19 2BT in the UK recently and asked him about it - "No one asked me. Of course, I'd be interested. Who wouldn't, it's Superman? I've a lot of faith in this movie, I hear the scripts great and I've suggested some of colleagues try out for the roles there". Frakes also indicated Trek is over - "I'd love to do more Star Trek - But I think that's it. Paramount has no plans on using the next gen from here on in. Didnt make enough money last time round", and commented on the possibility of a "Roswell" movie - "At the moment I think Jason (Katims) is trying to iron out some details to see they can be released on DVD. I think the plan is, if the show finds extended life on home video and DVD, the movie version I know he so dearly wants to do - might have a chance...When we do the movie, it'll be everything back together - Jason, Brendan, Katy, Bill...It'll be a stand-alone movie that anyone can come to see and enjoy on its own merits, whether you watched the series or not".
from: Dark HorizonsNow I'm kinda wondering whether the DVD release is , too. We did hear it from someone else though, too, right? From JK? Or who was it? As long as it's still coming out on DVD, I can live without the movie.

I got the info from www.tvshowsondvd.com, which is usually a very reliable source. But if it does turn out to be BS, they're gonna have A LOT of angry fans on their hands!

More DVD news from www.tvshowsondvd.com. 10/08/03
Fox has scheduled the season one to be released sometime in Feb, 2004. The date will be confirmed when the set is officially announced, hopefully by the end of October.
We also learned that music in the show has been replaced for the DVDs, which isn't much of a surprise. We have no idea which songs were replaced, or how many, but we know of at least one new song added to the set. While fans may be upset by this, it had to be done. With the music companies blaming lower profits on file trading they have started viewing music licensing for DVDs as another source of income. Since there's no set price for music used on DVDs, this often results in the music companies asking astronomical prices. Studios are faced with the bottom line; can we afford to license all the music used in the show and keep the price of the set reasonable? Unfortunately the amount of music used in Roswell would force Fox to charge hundreds of dollars per set, pricing it out of the range of most fans.
So Fox was faced with replacing the music or not releasing the show at all. I think we can all agree that they're making the right choice by going ahead with the release. At least consumers will be buying the set knowing the music has been changed, which hasn't been the case with some sets from other companies.
Even with the music changes, I'm still looking forward to the set being released.
Thanks to Frank Forrester who wrote in to tell us that the music was being changed on the set. Frank let us know that "The Waking Hours" had licensed a song for the first season release which hadn't appeared in the broadcast airing.

I'm trying to picture Max healing Liz and some creepy sort of Gangsta Rap playing in the background. Ugly thought. *shudders* Anyway: new music is indeed better than no DVD at all. Thanks for the info, Jenny! Quote: Quote: place looks GREAT!

Just a little FYI, I went to a website this past Thursday or Friday and ordered the 3 Season DVD set of Roswell. I cannot remember the exact address, but I think it may have been www.tvshows.com. We'll see how it goes...it could just be a scam. I'll post again if I didn't get screwed and it's actually legit.
