Good question Sam!

Honestly, one part of me says yes while the other part says no. I'm tossed on it myself.

As they've been presented by the media and groups of believers? No. Do I think there is absolutely no other life in the universe? I won't rule out the possibiity. There's none within our solar system, that much I'm firm on. I also don't believe they're going to exhibit the humanoid body type that so many aliens are presented as having. The variety within the known animal kingdom here on earth boasts an amazing array of different body types and configurations. Most species don't have opposable thumbs or walk bipedally. And who's to say that in alien lifeforms, intelligence is found in the amount of grey matter a creature possesses? That's how it works here on Earth, but elsewhere...who knows? And what if they're not carbon-based lifeforms?

I'll stop getting technical there. Just idle wondernigs from a tired brain. If there is alien life out there, I'd love to meet it and study it. Not 'animal stuck in a cage' type studying. I'd like to watch it in social situations and see how the society works. I'd also want to do some of the laboratory-type stuff, but blood samples and tissue biopsys would serve well enough. The scientist in me wants to know what their internal anatomy is like, what their cellular structure is like, and all of that, so I'd likely want to dissect some dead specimins (live would be too risky, as I'd have to anesthetize and all the drugs I know would be too risky on unknown lifeforms) and do some blood and tissue sampling. But I'd only broach that area if/when I got to know the culture well enough that I'd be able to see if it was acceptable and not barbaric to them. If it was, scientific study is totally out.

Agree (as usual) with Zook. I do firmly believe there are others life forms out there, somewhere in the universe. Every other assumption would be typical human arrogance.

I don't believe, however, in the humanoid stereotypes the media present. Maybe it's even life forms we can't grasp with our intelligence, like non-materialised beings, like energies, or so. Dunno. I am positive there is something though.

Now...if there was a Michael Guerin amongst them, I wouldn't send him back to where he came from though...
