Well, it kind of sucks that the show ended the way it did. For one, the show should not have gone past season 4. After that, it turned into a soap-opera. Anyway, going back to the ending. If Pacey was going to end up with Joey, the show should have been called Pacey's Creek. Are you following? You get the fundamental flaw in the plot? It's a pity that the writers messed things up, especially after season 3. I thought things would get better, but evidently, they got worse. Very disappointing to say the least. Regardless of who ends up with who, and all that stuff... Dawson's character fades out of the series... Pacey's character is clearly undefined... Jen's is lost... Seasons 1, 2 and 3 made me a regular viewer... the rest of the seasons had me hoping for something better.
Let me know if you feel the same.

I can see your point of view, and it's understandable, but if I may suggest:

The story according to Kevin Williamson was not something he made up.(he is dawson) The story was written about the this boy who lives on a creek and is growing up with these other individuals, and we are the flies on the wall that see the events transpire.(I know DA), but bear with me.

Having said that, does it autmatically mean that Dawson and the girl he grows up with have to actually fall in love. With the history they shared, sure there is a tremendous bond, And it's possible, but I just don't see why it's automatic.
(Just my point of view)..In the story this girl from down the creek loves the boy she grew up with, and the boy doesn't seem to recognize it without his best friend hitting him over the head, and telling him to wake up and smell the coffee.

I just think they wrote the story the way they did for a reason.
I am also baised, and I admit that. For me the story got righted when the put Joey and Pacey together. What a suprise right.

But still I go back to my original point, The story transpired because of things that did happen, in KW life.

Well being a huge Dawson & joey fan i completly understand what you are saying. Not only that Dawson is my fav character and i don't think after the second maybe third season they gave him the role he should have had. I mean, James van der beek signed on for the main character of Dawson leery but instead his best becomes the main character and especially in the 5th and 6th series all his friends are in it more then he is. It's pathetic. Dawson & joey should have ended up together. Dawson deserved at least that! But instead of course he ended up alone. I guess, there's nothing we can to do about it now but whine! :dreamer

Thanks 'grehoun' for taking the time to comment. But I still beleive that the show, for six years, was about Dawson and Joey. Anyway, that doesn't matter anymore. As I said previously: it's what happened to the show that turned me off, not only Pacey and Joey ending up together.
Thanks 'Dawson Joey together forever'... It's nice to know that I'm not the odd one out!

To the D/j fans...
Just because he doesn't wind up with Joey doesn't means he ends up alone.

Why not allow him to pursue Gretchen or Audrey.
He had the same type of chemestry with them as Joey had with Pacey.
Why is Joey the only option?
Do you remebner how much fun he had with both those girls.
C'mon. he's got options...All he has to do is want to pursue what's already there. Especially with Gretchen..
And I'm talking about after the finally, not during the series.

Hey Guys!

I think the truth is after KW left the show it really changed. I think things would have been written differently if he had stayed with his show but he didn't and in Season 3 I didn't recognize the characters and most of all the witty dialogue I loved wasn't there either. So I quit watching. I didn't watch until I saw a preview of The Longest Day. So of course also hated how the Season 3 finale ended.

Well I have recently watched the repeats on TBS and I think that Pacey and Joey are a Great couple now. I never saw the build up before and now see why the fans wanted them together. I still love Dawson and Joey as well. I honestly think both are Wonderful couples.

The show may have turned out different. DC turned into a completely different show after he left. In Season 3 P/J and the conflict with Dawson was the only interesting aspect.Yes the show is called Dawson's Creek but that doesn't mean he should definetely get the girl.

I hated the writing of D/J after KW left. The relationship completely changed. They weren't as close and just kept hurting each other over and over again.

Like many I figured since KW was writing the finale they would finally get together but the truth is P/J are the ones that had a long lasting relationship and the way things were written I think it was fitting for them to get together in the end.

To me the magic of D/J was not there after KW left. While not really resolving D/J because they wanted to keep viewer's guessing. So they gave little moments like the Season 4 and 5 finales. Along with the Season 6 premiere. The writer's wanted to keep the shipper wars going as long as they could. Looking back though I honestly think after KW was gone the original vision of DC went with him.
