General Season 8 Spoilers:09/04 - ''We kind of dug ourselves a pretty interesting creative hole,'' admits executive producer Brad Kern. To be sure, there's painting yourself into a corner, and there's burning down the whole house. In the seventh season finale, the three Halliwell sisters ostensibly died and transformed into other actresses. ''We wrote a quasiseries finale, because at that time we didn't know if we were coming back.'' The series is back, and it will craftily explain the ersatz finale: Everyone else sees the clan's new aliases, but they (and we) see them as themselves, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan. It also explains the need for 8 Simple Rules' Kaley Cuoco as an apprentice witch, charged with demon-fighting in their stead. In other casting news, Dorian Gregory is gone, but Jason Lewis snags a recurring role as Dex Lawson. Speaking of ups and downs, don't count on this being Charmed's last season, either, says Kern. ''You can't kill this show.'' So we see.
08/26 - At the start of the eighth season, the sisters are presumed dead. However, alive with a desire to put their old lives behind them and live a demon-free existence, Piper, Phoebe, Paige and Leo cast a spell creating new identities. They altered their appearances to the outside world, but still appear as themselves to those closest to them. Piper tries to live the normal family life by being a wife to Leo, raising two sons, and running her nightclub, P3. Phoebe embraces her new life and tries to form a relationship with Dex Lawson (Jason Lewis, Sex and the City), a gorgeous artist who admired her from afar but never had the courage to ask her out. Now, with a new lease on life, Phoebe goes after Dex, especially after she has a premonition that she will marry him. Wanting to move on and put magic behind her, Paige still can't ignore the Whitelighter in her, and answers the call of a young witch named Billie (Kaley Cuoco, 8 Simple Rules). College student by day and fighter of evil by night, Billie is a fearless girl with raw talents. As the Charmed Ones work with Billie to hone her skills and teach her the importance of their calling, they realize how much they miss magic. They come to the decision that they can carry on their fight against evil while trying to maintain a normal home life. As the three most powerful good witches magic has to offer, the Halliwell sisters continue to wage war against evil as they seek to strengthen their sisterly bond and get closer to fulfilling their destiny.
08/24 - "I keep hearing that Shannen Doherty is coming back to Charmed this season. Is it true?" Ausiello: I ask exec producer Brad Kern this question every time we talk and his response usually goes something like this: "Um, are you nuts?!?!?" But considering this will likely be the show's last season, it stands to reason that Prue would pay a visit in the final episode, right? Wrong. "I can't imagine she would," Kern admits, adding, "I can't imagine she'd want to. I'm not averse to picking up the phone and asking, but it's hard for me to imagine that she would want to."
08/17 - Brad Kern: "There's every likelihood" that this will be the show's final season. "The girls' contracts are up this season, and I wouldn't imagine that they would want to, or should be expected to, come back after devoting pretty much their entire 20s to Charmed. But you can never say never." Kern, who's keeping open the possibility of a spin-off built around Kaley Cuoco's new witch, said this season viewers will see a shift in focus "more toward the girls' personal lives. It's going to be fun to watch their Sex and the City-like antics as they try to do something they've never done before, which is try to lead normal lives." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
08/10 - Dorian Gregory has been cut from the cast of Charmed, and Brian Krause's appearances have been reduced, due to budget cuts.
07/25 - The Charmed Ones will be joined this season by Kaley Cuoco, star of the hit comedy 8 Simple Rules. Cuoco will play Billie, a young witch under the tutelage of Phoebe, Piper and Paige. Also on Charmed, a handsome new face will be conjured up when Jason Lewis (who played Smith, Samantha's gorgeous boy toy in Sex And The City) guest stars in a six-episode arc as Dex, an artist who has admired Phoebe from afar but never worked up the courage to ask her out. Now, Phoebe tries to form a relationship with Dex especially after she has a premonition that she will marry him.
07/23 - No Mark McGrath on Charmed. They say he can't do it with his Extra job. Jason Lewis is the replacement.
07/16 - It seems that the sisters will be in disguise for at least 3 episodes and Leo for up to 5 episodes. This may be extended to more episodes.
06/29 - Kaley Cuoco (8 Simple Rules) will join Charmed as a new witch, who comes under the tutelage of the three Charmed Ones.
05/27 - At season's end, the Charmed Ones -- Piper (Combs), Phoebe (Milano) and Paige (McGowan) -- had their slates wiped clean and were transformed into new versions of themselves (with different actresses), able to now live in anonymity without fear of their magical powers being discovered. Since all three original stars are contracted for one more year, Kern faces the challenge of restoring the sisters. Also, because of the budget, they must stay in the now-deserted Halliwell mansion. "Can't afford to rebuild," Kern says. "They will stay in the house, one way or another. I don't want to get out of this cheaply. I think the audience would be upset, and I don't blame them. I don't want to use memory dust; I don't want to use the cleaners; I don't want to cast spells. They're going to have to get out of this one authentically, and I think that'll be more rewarding for the audience." There'll be a new girl in town. "We're going to be meeting a new witch in the season as well," Kern says. "She will be driving the girls crazy. Who knows, maybe she'll take off, and there'll be a ninth season." Source: Zap2it
05/17 - The power of the Halliwell sisters has entranced audiences for 7 seasons, but next year, their lives will be charmed in unimaginable ways. Piper, Paige and Phoebe have always been able to defeat the forces of darkness and still have time to buy the cutest cropped pants. But now they will encounter their greatest nemesis: a demon smart enough to expose them and ruthless enough to disrupt their overnight dates. With the police closing in on their bewitching identities, the Charmed Ones can depend only on themselves for survival. But the challenge to conceal their calling is about to prove impossible.
