Personally, I loved this season ~ only downside being it was only 12 episodes!

i have to agree, i loved this season aswell. made better by the fact i had to search long and hard for the video!

this season was really all about the b-movie type special effects and completely impossible plotlines.

now, before people say i'm being negative, i think that these were the seasons best qualities! the fact that it had monsters such as a praying mantis lady and people turning into hyenas...(is it just me, or did nick brendon just make *far* too good a bully? it must be something about the eyes...) made the season what it was, a radical break from the usual teen television of the dawsons creek and friends genre. both good series, but just lacking what buffy had in those early years: pure, unadulterated excapism-appeal. the best thing about having such completely fantastical plotlines is that the producers still managed to work in all the pain and angst of growing up.

ok, breathe. i've never been able to put into words what makes s1 stand out from the other seasons. each had its own individual atmosphere, but this one is by far the most striking. anyone care to give me a hand here?

ok, i'll finish with some sort of understandable comment. s1 was where they had nothing to lose. nobody had any idea how the season would be taken by the audience so it seemed as if they were really just playing around with whatever wierd and wonderul ideas they could come up with. the sets may have been monotinous, the choreography may have left a little to be desired and the special effects...best not to go there. but, not wanting to be too cliched about this, at that time, it was exactly what everyone needed.
