Episode 2-10: "The Abduction." This episode was set to air in January but we get to see it 12/15/02 instead. Faye Dunaway's character Ariana Kane appears in the first of her three-episode stint. She plays an Alliance official who's investigating the blackmail plot against Sloane. It's Jack who knows all of Sloane's dirty little secrets and immediately raises Kane's suspicions (more on this later but her suspicions get Jack into a load of trouble in upcoming episodes). And they're hardly allayed when, during her questions about his personal life, Jack gets very defensive about some of his own secrets. Meanwhile, Sydney's mommy dearest, Irina makes things worse for her ex by telling him an unsettling truth about their KGB-orchestrated marriage; and Marshall's first mission goes horribly awry. This is the episode where we learn Marshall is afraid to fly. Miniature golf is played and Sydney and Will run into Alice and Vaughn in a bar. Busy episode!

From certim: How awesome was Alias last night? Please give us some hope that Syd and Vaughn will actually get together.

Here's the best morsel I can muster. I asked executive producer JJ Abrams for any tidbit on what lies ahead for Sydney and Vaughn and he said: "Just having Sydney and Vaughn flirt all year would be wildly unsatisfying. Let's just leave it at that." Syd! Vaughn! Boogie-oogie-oogie! Get down! Boogie-oogie-oogie! (To clarify: The last part of that quote was me--not JJ.)

From junebug: Is it just me or was Vaughn only holding two tickets? I was all excited that he and Syd would finally go on a date! Did they switch up the ending? This is agony!

I'm just as confused. Do you really need Ticketmaster to go miniature golfing? Wha? We can only hold out hope that they're going somewhere ticket-worthy in an upcoming ep.

From theelders: Any spoilers on Marshall's first mission in the episode that airs next week?

I ran into Kevin Weisman (Marshall) this week, and I'll give you the goods from that talk in this week's column.

Ah, so you want more than one word, now, do ya? Okay, here is what I know about this week's Alias : In a mere 42 minutes, it holds all that is good and noble and worth living for in this world. It has Sark. Marshall. Vaughn. Sydney. Will. Alice. Okay, maybe not that last one, but it has Sydney and Will running into Vaughn and Alice. (Eek!) Marshall goes on his first mission. And Sark and Sydney work together. Now, that's good TV! More details from Kevin on Friday.

Am I the only one who thinks Alice looks too old? The women looks like she is about 45! Alice needs to take a long walk off a short pier!

Ok...tonight's episode:

Love Will trying to make Sydney laugh with his "My parent's and I went through the same thing" comment! Yeah, ok, Will. :lol

"Technically, we could still be husband and wife." Ouch...that looked like that hurt. But then Jack does check into it and finds out they are infact still married. Interesting. And now she's willing to talk to Jack as well as Sydney. Hmm...

Marshall:
OMG...I just love this guy to pieces! He is too funny!

And he speaks Eewok! :grin

And Sydney frickin' kissed him! :omg

That sure got him going didn't it? :grin

I do feel horrible though...he thinks he's one of the good guys! I was hoping the CIA would get ahold of him so he could be one of the good guys, but that frickin' Suit and Glasses man is back! :nono

Do NOT like that guy! But at least Will seemed to of paralyzed him! :clap

Alright...this Alice crap is really starting to piss me right off! :mad

Here Syndey notices that Vaughn has on a new suit and he has to go and mention it was for Alice's dads funeral. :nono

Vaughn...mentioning Alice is a :nono

And the bar...I teared up. :cry2

That was hard to watch. But you could totally tell they want each other! And Will, Thank you for saving Sydney from anymore torment! And than when he went to explain in the warehouse... :cry

Tell me, how forced was her comment.."Alice seemed really nice?"! Hello, Vaughn. Wake the hell up and smell the roses!

I love Marshall, I love how Syd got him to wake up :lol

, and the thing outside the airport. WAAHH! I feel so bad for Marshall! I hope he comes out okay! Such a truly great guy!

I was too busy looking at Vaughn looking at Syd and Syd looking at Vaughn to be bothered to look at Alice.

However, she is the Other Woman and is therefore evil. It is a law that the Other Woman must always be evil.

Questions, questions, questions... I've got them. And I hope you've answers... This ink isn't going to stay on my hand much longer. Okay, let me get to it...

First of all, WHO THE HELL IS ALICE? The woman with Vaughn at the bar...she was all leaning into him and such and even though I'm not completely/100% drawn into the whole S/V thing yet, I thought it was wrong and a lot bit eww. Why is she there? Who is she? New character or old? Was her father important? Does it matter now that he's dead, other then the fact that it gives her an excuse to hang out with Vaughn-y boy?

Second, WHO THE HELL IS RITA? I've never heard that before. Code name or something? What goes along with it? Why and how did they come up with it?
Third, WHO THE HELL IS THE DUDE IN THE WHEELCHAIR? He's all creepy and such and what the hell? He got to Marshall first? How did that happen? Why did the CIA let that happen? What do you guys think is going to be done next? Are they still going to be bringing him in or are they going to leave him alone, now that he's been captured by some psycho?

Okay, for now, I think that's it. Anyone want to help me with my Q's?

Alice: She was Vaughn's girlfriend last season, and we just recently found out he's hooked up with her again. Her father is not at all important, except as a topic of conversation.

Rita: The pseudonym Syd used when Vaughn was in the hospital, and when Alice showed to visit him (which is when we found out she and Vaughn were back together), this is what Syd introduced herself as.

The dude in the wheelchair: He is Asian, he is a torturer, and, in the last show of S1, Will injected him with some kind of truth serum that paralyzes 1 in 5 of the people who get it. Will, of course, was fine. The Asian dude, it seems, was not. He's a longstanding Really Bad Guy. He tortured Syd in the first epi of S1 and she's missing a back molar because of him. We don't know how he got to Will before the CIA; you're as clueless on that as I am. I have no guesses on what happens to Marshall next, and I'm peeved that I have to wait three weeks to find out! Yes, no Alias for two Sundays in a row, people. Most bumming.
