From the Safe House and Alias Uncovered:

Original: Thanks to Kerrskeed @ Alias Uncovered.

Irina visits captive Caplan in Spain and says that they still need his help. She has a catalog of over 10 million people's DNA. They're looking for a specific man, but the database is encrypted and they want him to decrypt it. Caplan has stopped eating and says he won't help them, so they can just kill him. Irina says that they'll let his family go if he helps them. Caplan says if they let his family go first and show him proof, he'll help them. Irina hands him a phone and tells him to call home. He does, and his wife answers -- but Irina has fixed the phone so that his wife can't hear him. Irina says that if he completes this final task, he can go home to his family.

Will and Francie are kissing on the sofa. Will says he's gonna be late, then leaves to take a shower. Francie takes his cell phone out of his jacket pocket and replaces it with a new one. Later, Will is at the CIA, and Marshall introduces himself. While they're talking, Francie calls and wants Will to look up a recipe on the Internet for her because her computer crashed. Through the cell phone, she's able to get his log-on to the CIA network and access reconnaissance satellite footage of Sloane and Emily outside the Tuscan villa.

In Saria, Spain, Sydney sits and waits in a car in an alley. Vaughn drives up, and they get out of their cars and kiss and embrace. Syd thanks him for coming and says they have 12 minutes left. Vaughn is relieved to see her again. She asks him if he brought gear, and he pulls out a suitcase full of guns, stun grenades and other equipment. Vaughn says he talked to Weiss and satellites show five people in the building. Syd says that Sloane and her mother could be one block away. Vaughn says they won't surrender, and Syd says she knows: shoot to kill. Vaughn tells her that although he's not a fan of her disobeying the CIA, it was good how she got away.

Inside the building, Sloane watches the satellite footage of Emily being shot. He zooms in and sees that Dixon was the shooter. Sloane picks up the phone, calls Francie and tells her that he needs her to do something for him.

From Alias Media:

Herc's Seen ALIAS 2.19!

Alias 2.19 FAQ

What's it called?
“Endgame.”

Who's responsible?
Teleplay is credited to the mysterious Sean Gerace.

What does TV Guide say?
“Christian Slater returns to complete his two-episode turn as a mathematician forced into Sloane and Irina's service. For weeks, Syd (Jennifer Garner) and the CIA have been searching for the abducted brainiac with no luck. Their big break comes when his wife (Tracy Middendorf) reveals shocking information that strikes a nerve in Jack and sends Syd to Russia against her father's orders. Back in the States, a grieving Sloane deploys the newly evil Francie (or whoever she is) to uncover - and assassinate - the person responsible for Emily's death. However, the hit hits a snag that changes one agent's life forever. Diane: Yvonne Farrow. Sark: David Anders.”

What shocking information does the mathlete's wife bring?
We learn before the opening credits that Jack Bristow and Neil Caplan have more in common than just having worked for Arvin Sloane.

So Jack continues to run the task force? How's Kendall holding up?
Kendall does not appear this week. There is much misbehaving under Jack's watch. “Jack is going to shoot you in the face,” Weiss tells Vaughn.

Sloane wants whomever killed Emily dead? Is she really dead?
In the opening shot we see Syd and Dixon standing over what looks like a black casket. So who knows?

Whom does Sloane decide is responsible for Emily's death? Dixon? Jack? Sure not Syd!
Dixon, though Sloane doesn't learn this until fairly late in the episode.

The big news?
Jack Bristow knew what Irina was up to all along, and secretly instituted appropriate countermeasures. He did such a good job, operational control of the task force is taken from Kendall and given to Jack.

Does Vaughn learn that “Francie” is evil?
No.

Do we learn this week “Francie's” true identity?
No.

Any other news on Sloane?
He's devastated by the loss of Emily. “I'm not interested in the database,” he tells Irina. “I wish I'd never heard [Rambaldi's] name.”

What's doing with Will?
Francie uses Will to gain access to satellite footage depicting Emily's shooting.

And Marshall?
Marshall discovers that someone's been downloading satellite footage without authorization. And he's confounded by Irina's beeping earrings. “Marshall's still trying to figure out how they receive anything, Jack tells Syd.

Is Diane Dixon sticking to her “it's me or the job” edict?
She completely recinds it this week! “When you first told me the truth, I said I didn't know who you were. I was wrong. I just didn't know what you did. I have always known who you are. You are the most decent man I know. Whatever you decide, I'll be with you.”

What's good?
Christian Slater. Travy Middendorf. The many surprises. The return of Irina's cell. Syd's daring escape generally and the use of The Breeders' “Cannonball” in particular. Syd's riding ability and her encylopedic knowledge of sorority ritual. Jack's enduring fatherly disdain for Syd's beaus. Weiss' line about sharing a cell.

What's not so good?
And it's a repeat next week. And wouldn't the CIA have Weiss' phone tapped too?

Will there ever be an “Alias” episode as good as the genius installment that ran after the SuperBowl?
“I feel like this year we have an even better ending," series creator told zap2it.com here. "If you're a longtime or a new fan of the show, I think it will blow your mind. It's that feeling of I have a giant secret that I just can't wait for everyone to see." And after tonight it's only three episodes away …

What was that prophecy again?
“This woman here depicted will possess unseen marks, signs that she will be the one to bring forth my works. Bind them with fury, a burning anger, unless prevented at vulgar cost. This woman will render the greatest power unto utter desolation.”

How does it end, spoiler-boy?
“Francie” drives out of shot.

Herc's rating for “Alias” 2.19?
***1/2

My random thoughts for the night:

"The middle drawer is yours." :kiss That is just too adorable!

:omg Elsa is Russian CIA! :omg

:lol "...kidnap a smarter genius than me." :lol :lol

"Do you know how spoiled you are?" :rollin

Sorority Sister Sydney. :lmao Nice touch that she said she was a "sister" back home in West Virgina.

"...comfortable with my daughter." Closest thing we've gotten about Jack knowing about Sydney and Vaughn.

GO BULL-RIDING SYDNEY!

Weiss: :loveu "Jack is going to shoot you in the face."
"If we end up sharing a cell in federal prision, I'm not giving you a drawer." :lol :lol :rollin

EWWWW...Will and "Francie" making out! :barf

Will and Marshall finally "meet" :lol

"Did I bring gear?" :lol
"Not that I'm a huge fan of you disobeying the CIA, but that was pretty good, they way you got away. :grin " :loveu

OH! We got a tiny bit about Sark. Hmmm...:thinking

EWWWWWWWW--Caplan's wrist--EWWWWWWWW

It has been said that three characters by the end of the season, Emily was #1, Diane was #2...who is #3 going to be?

Maybe #3 was the agent who got blown up at the beginning of the season. :dunno

I thought tonight's eppy was good. And poor Dixon!

Sloane is incredibly dangerous because of his mental state. He's beyond reason. I'm glad to see him actually grieve over Emily, thought. It's nice to know the man has some kind of considering for someone besides himself. I wish she'd lived. She was a nice one to have around. Amy Irving did a good job.
