Does any one know which main character is leaving the show? I just hope it's not Jack or Vaughn.

Um, Vaughn is the character being killed off early in season 5. Supposedly for creative reasons, but I tend to think it's the offscreen stuff.

I've read on multiple locations that it is Greg Grundberg leaving the show.

The only source I've seen that "applies" it is Vaughn is Kristin from E! All the other sources say Weiss. And I'm sure they say a Main character to get everyone interested in watching.

LOL I know; I know. I feel the sameway about Kristin, but if it wasn't true and VAughn wasn't going to die, why isn't ABC denying it? Why isn't Vartan's people denying it? Just makes you wonder... Plus, I was told by someone with a source, who said it was Vaughn. Granted, I have no idea if this person knows anything, but she's been right in the past...

Major Cast Spoiler...PossiblyLOS ANGELES - Saturday morning, representatives from ABC, Buena Vista, and Bad Robot gathered to announce major cast changes on the set of the hit show ALIAS. Series creator J.J. Abrams made the formal announcement. "We're all very excited about the twists and turns in store for our viewers in ALIAS' fifth season. The stories we've planned since the beginning are finally coming to fruition. However, with progress we've had to make some changes. I'm sorry to announce that series regulars Greg Grunberg and Michael Vartan will be leaving after three episodes this year. Fans shouldn't worry, however, as their stories will be given full justice and their absences will be explained." "That's not all, though. Rachel Nichols and Élodie Bouchez have joined the cast in important roles that we're keeping the lid on right now." "Alias" stars Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, Victor Garber as Jack Bristow, Ron Rifkin as Arvin Sloane, Michael Vartan as Michael Vaughn, Carl Lumbly as Marcus Dixon, Kevin Weisman as Marshall Flinkman, Rachel Nichols as Rachel Gibson and Élodie Bouchez as Renée Rienne. From: Alias MediaEDITED TO ADD: Gertie has taken this story off her site unitl it can be confirmed. I've been looking on Google News...where they say this was posted...I can't find a thing about this story. So...take it with a grain of salt!

To the TV Gal Reader Belongs the SpoilsOkay, we appear to be in a full-fledged panic mode that Michael Vartan is leaving "Alias." So much so that I've received multiple emails about www.mvcampaign.com which is a campaign to keep Michael Vartan on the show. Here's what I know -- he's still listed as part of the cast and Greg Grunberg, who is leaving the series, is not. With Jennifer Garner's real life pregnancy being written into the show and two new characters joining the series (Rachel Nichols as a young CIA agent and Idole Bouchez as a woman who has been secretly working with Vaughn), changes abound. ABC president Stephen McPherson said at the press tour "There's some very, very big changes that take place very early on in the season that drive the story for the remainder of the year." But despite the changes, word is that Michael Vartan will still be on the show next season. I promise to keep you posted. The rest of the article can be found at: Zap2It

This Quote: Quote: Due to my association with the MV Campaign, I was contacted by a source from the set of Alias and given the following information regarding Michael Vartan's status with the show.
1- Yesterday, Wednesday August 17, 2005 was Michael Vartan's last day of shooting on the series Alias.
2- The funeral scene was filmed yesterday.
3- At this time there is no intention of having either Vaughn/Vartan return to the series.
4- In regards to Mr. Vartan's departure being a mutual decision, Mr. Vartan's intentions had always been to stay with Alias until the series concluded as he had many times, stated in the past.
was posted here...And, it's been confirmed by others, so I'm definately thinking it's true... -Hannah

Alias Fans Fight for Vartanby Wenn Fans of hit TV series Alias have launched a campaign to save Michael Vartan's character, even though producers have failed to confirm they're killing him off. Vartan, who plays his former girlfriend Jennifer Garner's on-screen lover Michael Vaughn on the show, reportedly shot his final scenes last week, according to the New York Post. Insiders claim Vaughn will be killed off in the upcoming series, which will also see pregnant Garner coping with impending motherhood both in real life and on the crime drama. The news has prompted some fans to launch www.mvcampaign.com, which has been set up to stop any potential Vartan departure. In a posting on the fansite, one devotee states, "Many of us feel that if this were to occur, it would be showing the show, the viewers, and Mr. Vartan a huge lack of both respect and loyalty. "We have decided to take action and do something to express our feelings." From: Hollywood.com

Well, it depends on what you believe, I guess. One reason that is being whispered is that Vaughn had reached his end(I mean afterall... the whole season seems to revolve around Vaughn, if that isn't more proof that he served his purpose, I don't know what does... ); another goes that because of the offscreen tension between Vartan and Garner, her pregnancy, the skeeve factor, ect was the reason. Another is that ABC went cheap... another is that ABC forced the show into killing off a main character and Vaughn was chosen because of the offscreen tension... Of course, none of this means... Vaughn stays dead. Unless, we see his body, he could still come back. Vaughn being killed off is pretty much confirmed, it's whether he returns or not is up for debate. -Hannah

POSSIBLE SPOILER: It sure looked like Michael Vartan's character was killed in "Alias" shocking season opener. But since when does anyone on this show actually die? "If things go according to plan, he'll be back this season," reveals exec producer Jeff Pinkner. "We're writing an episode right now that Vaughn is in, and we have more planned." Vaughn could return as soon as December, before the ABC spy series goes on hiatus for Jennifer Garner's maternity leave. Vartan's manager confirms that producers have asked the actor to return for up to three episodes, though so far no deal has been signed. Or has it? From: TV Guide

That is such spin. MV is NOT signed to do ANY more episodes beyond the first episode. (They NEVER intended to bring him back and now they're scrambling. Idiots).

You know sometimes I wonder if it's all just words and spin. Like they're trying to spin the blame on MV. "See? We're trying to get him back! We want him back! But Michael Vartan won't come back! Blame him! It's his fault!"
It still astonishes me that the show actually thought they could get away with it and not get any heat for the decision. They seemed, frankly, stunned by the backlash and that's just surprising.

Is MV gone for good? The casket was closed at the funeral, which means anything is possible. I call it the Emily Sloane Principle: you can't be sure they're dead until you see them die via bullets, stabbing, or something along those lines. A heart attack or even death by letal injection does not mean the person is truly dead. Unless you see their internal organs turned into ground round, don't sign the death certificate. :lol2
