The sad thing is... it wasn't even a nasty and fast breakup either. Instead, it was slow... which means we get to feel every last second of it... *sigh*

Can Alias Live on After This Season?TV Guide reports that, despite ABC's announcement this fifth season would be the last for J.J. Abrams' Alias, the show may survive in another form. The producers are mulling ways to continue the franchise. "I would say we haven't seen the end of all things 'Alias'," executive producer Jeff Pinkner teases. "There are versions of this show which could exist after this season. There are plenty of stories we'd love to tell." Among the formats Pinkner and Abrams have discussed is a spin-off series revolving around villains Sark (David Anders), Peyton (Amy Acker) and Sloane (Ron Rifkin). "It's the triumvirate of evil!" Pinkner says. (No official discussions with ABC have taken place yet.) Producers have also toyed with the idea of a big-screen adaptation starring Garner. When the series returns this spring, expect to see familiar faces. Greg Grunberg has already filmed an episode as Eric Weiss, and producers have worked up a wish list that includes Syd's buddy Will (Bradley Cooper), perhaps more appearances by spy mommy Irina (Lena Olin, who put in a surprise cameo in the Dec. 14 episode), and the evil Francinator (Merrin Dungey). Alias spin-off with Sloane, Sark and Peyton?Posted Dec 22nd 2005 11:23PM by Keith McDuffee When ABC decided that this was going to be the last season of Alias, J.J. Abrams wasn't in on the discussions. It wasn't until after the decision was made that Abrams was called while filming Mission Impossible 3 in China. While he's not all that surprised at the decision, he is saddened to see it end . . . make that "somewhat" end. Abrams has been discussing the possibility of doing something (spin-off? TV movie?) involving the characters Sark (David Anders), Peyton (Amy Acker) and Sloane (Ron Rifkin). Y'know, I might be OK with that idea, but only if they do something fresh with it; the whole Alias vibe to me is stale. From: TV Squad

Alias will satisfy viewers with its endLOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- "Alias" executive producer Jeff Pinker says ABC's early cancellation announcement means no loose ends for fans by the time the final episode airs. "We have 10 episodes left to really wrap things up," Pinker told TV Guide. "We can kill characters and not worry about what to do without them next year." Some characters will live on, however, in the hope of a possible "Alias" spinoff or even a big screen adaptation, he said. "There are versions of this show which could exist after this season," Pinkner said. "There are plenty of stories we'd love to tell." One idea being tossed around is a series featuring David Anders' character Sark, Amy Acker's Peyton and Ron Rifkin's Sloan. "It's the triumvirate of evil!" Pinkner said. I just love when Alias writers tell us we'll like something or that they have this grand plan... I just think back to Lauren and start cringing. Afterall, we were supposed to LOVE LAUREN!

Alias Lives on in Movies? Many fans were devastated by the news that primetime spy-thriller favorite Alias will be ending its run this spring. The surreal/sci-fi nature of the series allowed it to control a strong audience among the coveted geek crowd, but apparently that was not enough. However, the strength of the fanbase is not underestimated by Jeff Pinkner, executive producer of Alias. He recently suggested that the Alias universe has a strong chance of living on; through a spinoff series (most likely focusing around some of the show's villians) or possibly even a big screen debut starring Jennifer Garner. I don't tend to watch much television, and thus am not particularly familiar with Alias. I am aware, however, that many people whose opinions I generally trust on such matters are rather enamoured with the show. There have got to be some fans out there in our reader audience- convince me that this is a good idea, readers. While you're at it, convince me that I should go rent a season or two of the show and see what all the fuss is about. From: Cinematical

From Alias Media: "In episode 11 when the baby is born, there will be an expectation that Sloane needs to get something from the baby for the villains, that will go some way towards earning him the thing that will help heal Nadia," reveals Applebaum. Source: Alias Official Magazine About Renée: "There is something very important about her. We're going to be revealing that as the year goes on. There's going to be a very significant event that happens involving Renee in episode #13, that coincides with Vaughn's story that will help define how the landscape of our characters is laid out for the back half of the year." Source: Alias Official Magazine Applebaum on Prophet Five and Sydney: "We're debating that a little because I don't think we want to tell a story where the baby is gonna be abducted or anything, but there is something that is happening with the baby that they need. We haven't totally committed to when we're going to reveal that." [...] "When you discover what the Prophet Five conspiracy is all about, it will feel very tied in to things that you've seen before." [...] "You're gonna discover that the reason that Jack picked [Grace] for this team was that Tom Grace had a dark event that happened to him in the past. We're gonna learn about something that was one of the reasons that Jack chose him for the team because he knew that Tom would have a very personal interest in bringing down these villains. Jack knew Tom would be willing to do things that were not "Langley-approved" or traditional CIA methods. Tom has a very personal stake in helping our guys pull off the missions."
