They Met On The Dance Floor

M&L and others at some point
Rating~ PG for now
Disclaimer~ I do not own any of the characters.
However, this is based on a True Story. Enjoy!

Rabbit's Note~ Well, as I sit up in the wee hours of the morning waiting to go to sleep, I figure, Why not? Therefore, Read at your Own Risk as I am not a writer nor do I intend on writing any other's. Please forgive all grammer, punctuation, short sentences & whatnot errors. For those that started with the Should of Been; I've long given up on that and so this is the rewrite. ;)

Chapter One

"Beep, beep, beep," the alarm clock sounded. Liz rolled over to see the display; 6:15 am. "Ugh" she mumbled and rolled back over. "Beep, beep, beep" it sounded again ten minutes later. "I'm up already" she growled as she crawled out of bed dreading the day before her.

Her first day as a sophmore in a new school, new town, new city, hell halfway across the world it seemed. From everything she once knew yet barely knowing a thing. She had just moved to California a month ago to live with her father whom she had never really known. Her mother was a whole different story. She had lived with her and her cocaine addiction all of her life and the effects of not truely understanding her mother at any given point. She had finally acknowledged she needed help, which was a great thing except for the part where she was sending Liz to live with her father. So her mother ended up in some hospital and she hasn't heard from her since she left. She felt as if she had no one. No one close. No one to depend on. To talk to. To trust. She was in a world all by herself. It was lonely at times.

"Ah well, can't depress myself over this for too long" she thought and jumped in the shower. The water was scorching. It relaxed her. She breathed in the steam and let go of her worries. Hot, Steamy and refreshed she jumped out and dried off. "Much better" she smiled. Next biggest challenge (as if getting out of bed wasn't enough) of the day, what to wear. For that mattered the most and would set her impression to others for the remainder of her school years she thought. She finally decided on her long black skirt and royal blue top. Simple enough. She finished up and dashed off to catch the bus.

As she approached the corner another girl stood there alone as well. "Hi" she said. She was tall and had really short black hair compared to Liz's long brown hair. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue and she had a warm complex about her that made Liz feel good right away. "You just move here?" She asked and Liz replied, "Yeah". Apparently the other girl did too. Perfect Liz thought. How cool can this be? They went on to exchange names and their fears over the first day. Her name was Karen and she had a younger brother. Her family had just transferred a week earlier from Wyoming. She was a year older than Liz but on their way to school they agreed to meet for lunch together since they didn't have the same classes and decided on sharing a locker as well so they could see each other throughout the day. Liz sighed a breath of relief. Maybe this just might not be so bad afterall.

The day flew by quickly for Liz. Everyone actually seemed okay. She did notice the school had many different social groups but she felt ackward as if any one group just wasn't her. Her new friend Karen was extremely talented in the acting area and had joined up with the Drama students in the schools Theater Production. She was cast immediately as Juliet in the Upcoming winter play Romeo and Juliet. Liz was in awe of it all. She didn't have any acting talent and had never really been on a stage or been behind the scenes much less ever seen a play. So after school everyday she enjoyed sitting in the empty seats watching Karen and the others rehearse. They were a funny group of people and soon after she had become part of their little family.

On weekends her and Karen would lounge by the pool and Liz would help her to memorize her lines. At night they shared icecream and moaned and laughed over the work load or the teachers or other students. Liz finally felt like she had someone in her life. One she could trust and confide in and have a good time with. They quickly became the bestest of friends.

Not bad! More! It's a good start. Haven't really gotten to 'know' any of the characters yet, so the jury is still out on that end of things.

Chapter 2

Three weeks later Liz was sitting on the bleachers during her dance class as they had a sub today and were forced to just hang out and study for the 45 minutes of class. The sub down below was taking roll call when a student came in and handed her a note and walked off.

"Liz Parker, your needed in the main office" the sub announced. Liz felt a twinge of embarassment flush over her face. She still didn't know a lot of people and didn't want to be the center of attention. On top of that all the guys from the Study Hall apparently were allowed to spend their time playing basketball in the gym or sitting on the other side of the bleachers studying. The worst part about it was the only way out of the freakin gym was all the way on the other side of the court; which meant she had to walk past 3 classes and the guys to get out of there. She grimaced as she stepped down the bleachers and took the note and started to walk towards the exit. She walked as quickly as she could past everyone as she felt the heated stares that fell upon her. Her face felt hot and she had a terrible lump in her thoat.

She relaxed a little as she exited and made her way to the office. The counselor had told her she couldn't get the transcripts from her prior school and had given her some paperwork to take home and have her father sign. Liz was mad. She thought this so could of been done at a different time, like during lunch or something. Now she had to go through the torterous walk back to her seat. She walked really slow trying to kill time back to the entrance of the gym. Terrified to open the door she checked her watch. Agh. She still had 17 minutes left of class. She stood there for a few minutes debating whether to go in or risk trying to stand outside without a teacher walking by and asking what she was doing. Interrupting her thoughts a girl named Jessica from her class approached her. "Hey, is our class in here today? I got stuck in Mr. Friedmans English class on an assignment." she said. Liz replied, "Yeah, I just didn't want to walk back in by myself." Jessica laughed. "Me neither, especially when all the guys are whistling like morons and everyone stares at you." she said. "Come on let's go in together."

With that the two girls walked in and headed to the opposite end of the court to join class. As they walked by Liz glanced for what God-known reason up at the bleachers where some of the guys were sitting. Then the strangest thing happened. Her heart stopped. Or so she thought. Right smack dab in the middle of six other guys sat one whom her eyes fell upon instantly. He was tall and had dark brown hair and piercing dark eyes. He was clean and shaven she could tell from such a distance and was very well built wearing a black Tshirt and jeans. She was still walking but felt like she was only standing still. His eyes were locked on hers.

Wow. Thanks guys for all the feedback. I'm so sorry I'm so far behind. I've been having a lot of board things to deal with on the backend. And of course I'm way behind in reading so many of the other stories in here. I do have 3 more chapters written it's just the matter of time typing them onto here. Hopefully in a week(s) or so. :grin

Thanks for all the great feedback. Here's the next part. I might not be able to get the next parts out for awhile as I might be moving in a few weeks.

Chapter 3

And He Smiled. They stared at each other for maybe only seconds but it seemed to last a lifetime. It was as if there wasn't another soul besides them in the huge gymnasium. Her heart skipped a beat and then was interrupted by Jessica.

"Come on already."

So Liz turned and gave the teacher a note from the office and took her seat. She could still feel his eyes locked on her. She was beginning to feel very hot and flushed. Without Liz realizing it the guy had written a note and passed it down to one of the guys playing ball who casually made his way over to the bottom of the girls and had said quietly to pass it up to her. Amanda the girl in front of her turned around and said,

"Here Liz, it's for you."

Liz was startled at first and then slowly opened the small piece of paper. It read,

"Meet me outside the front of the gym after class. Max "

Her heart began to race again. Oh my God she thought. She had so many feelings ripping through her body all at once. She had never been close to any guy much less a boyfriend of any sort. She had always envied others making out but never experienced it for herself.

But he was different. Max she thought. She was in dreamland already as she still couldn't shake the moment they had shared across the gym just 10 minutes earlier. As the bell rung she was interrupted by her thoughts once again as the girls headed to the back locker room. Liz filed in and just sat there on the bench wishing that Karen was around.

Just then Julie popped over and asked,

"So who was the note from?"

Liz replied, "Max, do you know him?"

Julie answered, "No, I think he's new, why do you like him?"

Liz wasn't sure how to answer that. "You know, I don't even know him, he wants to meet me outside after class. What should I do?"

Julie just smiled and replied, "Are you crazy? You have to go meet him, he's adorable. From what I've heard around campus he's available and all the girls are talking about him."

"Well, okay. I'll meet him. I guess I better go get dressed or I'll be late. Thanks." Liz answered.

She walked into the bathroom and changed. She had so much nervous energy it was killing her already.

Pie~ so nice to see you again! :wavey :missu

And my apologies to those reading/following this. I am finding this difficult to write... being that it is coming/based on true life events. But I am trying my best.

Chapter 4

She could feel the nervousness emerging from the inside. That gut feeling you feel. Like your falling over a cliff, flying almost. Her hands were getting hot. Her body flushed. Almost to the point of sweating. She could feel it as she thought to herself, 'Oh God. What do I say to him? What if I look like a complete moron?'

She opened the door slowly and began to make her journey outside. Rounding the corner she grabbed onto the railing sliding her fingers along it as if to grab it for dear life. And then she stopped. Almost afraid to look up. She could feel him. Slowly, raising her eyes .. he stood there.. staring. At that moment she felt her breath being sucked out of her. She couldn't breathe. Lost in the moment she could feel his eyes burning right into her soul. The feeling that he could see her.. really see her. Almost that feeling that she wasn't even dressed in his eyes. Her body igniting, catching on fire. Burning on the inside. Aching. Longing.

And then the walls began to stack up. It was a defense. She couldn't help it. She couldn't let him in. She couldn't lose control. Breaking the long gaze she tries to focus on the buildings over to the right ... shyness overcoming her. She could sense him as he began to walk closer to her. So close. It's then that she looks back at him as he speaks to her,

"Hey."

And then he smiles at her as if she is the only person in the world at that moment. She couldn't help but smile back and weakly manage a "Hi" back.

Even these few moments to one would seem like it had only been a few seconds. Hardly. They are wrong. Standing there for more thatn five minutes already she could hear the bell ringing- signaling that the next class starts in three minutes.. leaving little time left.

She sees him reach into his back pocket pulling out a pen. He looks up and and asks,

"Can I have your number?"

She thinks to herself, 'He wanted my number? He wanted to call me? What would I say?'

He slowly starts to roll up his sleeve as I give him that look that says hell yeah. He looks up at her- questioning, waiting..

She speaks slowly,

"8..4..7..9..2..2..1.. No. Wait..."
Embarrassed as crap now... she goes onto correct herself,

"9..2..1..2."

He looks up and smiles as she continues to think how much he must think she's an idiot. Wanting to beat her head against concrete at this moment.

But then her attention is diverted to him blowing on the inside of his wrist - where he had just written her number. She could feel the world spinning just watching it. Almost a forbidden thought.

He softly smiles and whispers as he finishes drying his wrist,
"There. I'll never wash this arm again."

Her mind drifts away. She thinks to herself, 'Did he just say that? What do I say?' and then she remembers she didn't tell him her name.. and quickly says,

"Liz Parker." but instantaneously he says, "I know."

She couldn't believe it. He knew? How did he know? Blushing she looks around noticing the halls are now rather empty.
He notices the time as well and says,
"I've got to go. I have a test this period. But I'll talk to you tonight... right?"

And all she could manage to mumble in return was a "Yeah." Hoping she didn't say that too loud. She stood there watching him as he ran off in the opposite direction; smiling.

Then the bell sounded signaling class had begun.

"Shit" she said to herself as she made a mad dash for her English class.

Flushed and excited like a roller coaster you just got off of..she walked threw the rest of her classes in a complete daze. Unable to focus. To concentrate. On anything...but Max.

I just found this and I love it. I like how everything just faded away and all Liz saw and felt was Max. Can't wait for more.
