Generally we know that the book is always better. But was there ever a Movie that was better than the book?

Best Books made into Movies? What are your picks?

Not that I can think of...movies always leave parts of the book out and switch things around. I honestly don't think there is a movie that I think was better than the book. Perfect example, I loved the Jurassic Park book...there was a great part with the Teradactuls (sp?) and I was so looking forward to seeing that in the movie...they completely cut it...there were no bird parts until the third movie! :mad That's always my example for why books are better...plus, it leaves things up to your imagination when you read.

I remember when I saw the movie "Prince of Tides" it made me crazy. I kept saying, "That's not how it happened in the book! They totally made that up!"

This is how I usually am about movies after I have read the book. Though the Grisham movies (The Client, The Pelican Brief, etc) have been pretty close to how the books were.

I usually prefer the book because that way, I get to imagine how everyone looks and sounds.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing Laura. I love the John Grisham novels and the movies are pretty close to them. Thank goodness! I'd go crazy if they messed those books up...I :love John Grisham! :)

The Lord of the Rings was better than the book IMO... I couldn't read through the book. Had to skip a bunch of parts, but I loved the movie!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did try to read the Hobbit and I just couldn't get into it. The movie has to be easier than that.
