So, my day...
I've realized I am just whooped. Or is it whipped? I forget the term.
First, it's pouring down rain... I get off at a quarter to five and I guess I am just so damn trained by now, that I *damn well know* better than to go home without getting Mike's game. Well, I'll be more specific, the next (there have been many over the years) expansion pack to EQ came out and hit the stores today. So he calls me at work bitching already, that he will be behind... (all the other players) if he doesn't have it.. blah blah blah.
So, back to five pm and I drive straight to Circuit City. Nope. They don't have it. Mind you, I don't even keep up with his shit, so I don't even know the freaking name of the expansion. So I ask the guy in that department. Nope. He doesn't have a clue about games at all.
Okay, then why the HELL are you working in this department?
So, I ask a younger guy thinking he *might* know. Nope, he was a stupid ass. I'm on my way out and decide to ask the three guys at the courtesy counter- they don't know, but they do know the guy who does, who works there, but aha! is off today. What the fuck ever. I leave.
I drive to MediaPlay. The guy goes onto say-- Um, yeah... we sold out in five minutes flat right at noon. Great. Just freaking great. AT least this guy knows as much as the name of the expansion. So I head to Target- No, of course not. Stupid move.
I'm wet now from running in and out of the freaking rain. This is fun. So I head over to Best Buys across the street. No, the guy informs me that their order didn't even show up. No clue when it will. Well, that just doesn't help much.
Last place I know-- The Game store up by Starbucks.
I run in and ask-- this is what I get--"Oh man, I just sold the last copy not even two minutes ago."
I'm aggitated now.
I stand there and say,
"Okay... this is just not good. You don't understand, I cannnot go home without a copy."
It hits him and he goes, "OHHHH-- it's for your husband huh?"
I nod my head. So, I ask if he knows of ANY place else I can check. Two more people get involved at this point and ask where all I've been. I list the stores and then the other guys goes-- "Hey, what about our other store up North?"
So, he says he'll call up there and see if they have any (normally about a 30minute drive)
BINGO! He says the guy has one copy left and he'll hold it for me.
Of course, I run in next door to get a starbucks (come on -- you guys know me
) and then head off for the drive. Get on the highway.
STOP.
TRAFFIC.
Dead stop traffic.
So I sit for over an hour before I get there.
BUT
I arrive and YES I get the copy. *at this point I finally breathe*
I get back in the car, and *know* Mike hasn't even bothered to call me. I know he's got to be so pissed, because he would have *so* called me by now- 7 o'clock at night.
I pull in and I walk up to him smiling. He's like, "You got it?!"
I was like- uh-huh.
Whew. What a fun excursion.
