Actually, yes- it the thread was started by you and NO one else posted on it.. then you can delete your own thread. But if someone else posts on it- you should just close it and move it to the Pantry as you never want to delete someone else's post. (because yes if you started the thread and other people posted on it and you deleted it- it would delete everyones posts including yours. )

So like in Zooks example she double posted the Smallville transcript but no one else posted on it- so it was okay that she deleted that particular thread/topic.

No, not by deleting you can't. The only thing you could do is edit your post to say nothing and then everyone elses would still be there.
