Gotta say, the day it was -90 below windchill...I didn't like that so much! :shake

Except, the governor did tell all the schools that they HAD to close, so I had no school for the day! That was years ago though. It doesn't seem to get that cold back home anymore.

Dude! That is cold! When I was in high school, they closed school for two days because of the wind chill. I didn't care; I sat on my bed and worked on stories. I think that was 9th or 10th grade. lol I can date my life by what story I was working on at the time. Next year, I'm considering moving to Michigan. Me, who doesn't like winter, in Michigan for 3 or 4 years. Right...

Yeah, Michigan has interesting winters. But I have to say that the winters have seemed to mellow out alot within in the NorthCentral states within the past few years.
My best winter/school story was in 10th grade. It was Halloween morning and my dad comes and wakes me up. Normally, I'd just get up to the alarm. And he's like, "I don't think your going to school today." I thought I was in trouble for something! I was like :wtf

So, he's taking me out to the garage and I ask him why he doesn't think I'll be going to school and he says "this is why." Hits the garage door opener and there is snow half way up the door! He was frickin' awesome. We got a blizzard during the night and there had been nothing on the ground before that! I loved it!

I remember getting a huge blizzard like that when I liked in Connecticut. The winters were really bad there. It was a Sunday so Monday I get up and can't drive, so I hike to work in the snow, which takes me an hour. I get into the lobby and the security guard busts out laughing and tells me they *just called* him to say the office would be closed. The next day my boss is like "Well, I called you at 8:30 to say we were closed but you didn't pick up." Uh, yeah, that's cuz I was actually at the office already at 8:30.

Oh, Laura, four whole days! You poor thing! :lol

I'm on my winter break from school, and I'm *loving* it. I so need a break from the constant busy-ness of classes and homework and projects. Getting used to the idea that I have nothing to do all day but surf, watch Roswell, and knit takes getting used to (aren't I forgetting a project or something?), but it's nice to realize that I can slack and it's okay. It's been a crazy semester. A break is warrented.

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. Right now, I feel a bit jealous of my working friends, who don't have to bring home homework at the end of the day. But when I was working a 40-hour/week job, I was wanting to be back in school again, to wear whatever I wanted each day, and to be learning and expanding my mind again. And everything seemed so much more laid back and relaxed in school. I try to bloom where I'm planted. I do get to avoid reality for years to come, so that's a definite benefit to being in school. Time to work on my flaws and even them out before I hit the workforce.
