No, this is PETA's usual MO. They also endorse attacking labs and things like that. Their hearts may be in the right place (at least on some issues), but how they go about trying to make changes is totally wrong.
For the record (because it came to mind), animals bred for research DO NOT make good pets (this coming first-hand from a guy who tried to make a pet of a former research beagle), nor can you let them loose into the wild and expect them to survive. I don't want to get insanely off topic with that, so I'll say no more unless asked.
