Yeah, the show called The Simple Life is one tonight. Paris Hilton having to do work on a farm. She might break a nail. I saw a clip where she asked what Wal-Mart is. Yes, Paris it's a store where they sell stuff for walls.

Considering her jeans cost $800, it's a good bet she doesn't know what a Walmart is. Which, I suppose, is comparable to me not knowing what a Meijer was until I moved to Michigan. They just don't have them where I'm from. So I don't hold that against them. And I saw a clip of one of the Rich Kids having to do a rectal on a cow. I had to do one once for a class, and the general 'tude in the class was "EWWWW!" This from chicks (and a few guys) who weren't afraid to get down and dirty and weren't squick-able as a rule. There are aspects of farm labor that do take time to get a handle on. So be kind to them in that. And they were also thrown into a VERY different type of lifestyle than they're used to. Heck, ever hear freshman bitch about community bathrooms in the college dorm? It can be a shock. And plucking a chicken? I don't blame them for being freaked out. They are just *not* used to being anywhere near that in contact with their food. Heck, my best friend, who's very down to earth and knows the value of a day's work and all that, would likely be very hesitant to pluck a dead chicken. So cut them some slack on that.

Having leaped to their defense, I will now say their attitudes, from what I've perused on summaries of the shows, suck and they need a swift kick--right into the cow manure. All their fancy clothes need to be tossed out and they need to learn what real people wear. It's one thing to be rich and not used to 'the simple life' (which isn't simple at all), and another to act like you're doing these people a favor by gracing their home with your beautiful self. They've been raised to have horrible attitudes, and their parents need to be slapped around for that. And if the parents weren't involved in their upbringing, then the parents need to be smacked around some more for pawning their kids off on someone else while they go off and do whatever. 'Parent' is NOT a passive noun. Or shouldn't be. And if you are passive, you are not a parent. You are a sperm/egg donor.
