Skin
JERRY BRUCKHEIMER (CSI, Black Hawk Down) and JIM LEONARD (Thieves) team to bring you a riveting new drama about a world you've never seen.
SKIN is the story of two young lovers, desperate to be together, but who have two warring families who will do anything to keep them apart, and almost anything to destroy each other.
ADAM (D. J. COTRONA), a 17-year-old Latino from east L.A., meets JEWEL (OLIVIA WILDE), 16, a wealthy, beautiful Westside girl, at a party. They fall for each other, passionately, purely, and completely, before they realize that their parents are at war. Adam's Latina mother LAURA (RACHEL TICOTIN), a judge, and Anglo father MICHAEL (KEVIN ANDERSON, Nothing Sacred), the Los Angeles District Attorney, are prominent members of the city's judicial system. And, at the moment, Michael happens to be investigating and prosecuting Jewel's father, LARRY (RON SILVER, Ali, The West Wing, Festival in Cannes), the most successful producer of adult entertainment in L.A.
SKIN is about sex and race. SKIN is about politics. And most of all SKIN is about skin: complexion, beauty, desire, attraction, obsession, and prejudice in contemporary Los Angeles. SKIN is shot through with black comedy, passion, white-collar crime, scandal, naked ambition, and action. But at heart, it's a story of forbidden love.
RUSSELL MULCAHY (Queer as Folk, 1st to Die) directs SKIN, from Warner Bros. Television, Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, and Hoosier Karma Productions.

Yes, you are. We all are, actually. That's what makes us so special Just because I'm a hardcore candy girl doesn't mean I don't adore the Romeo + Juliet scenarios (ie: Max and Liz)

Just hope it doesn't end the same way as Romeo & Juliet. Ya know in the way of Juliet poisoning herself and Romeo stabbing himself in the heart... I may have them mixed up. It's been a few years since 10th grade english. The one thing this show doesn't appear to be is a Dawson's Creek clone, which means it'll be kick ass. And it's time slot sounds good to me. There hasn't been much good stuff on mondays lately. Although Paradise Hotel isn't bad summer fun. I know it's reality TV and it must die a horrible painful death but it works in the summer. They should just close the reality tv season down from fall to spring and then unleash it in the summer when there's only crap re-runs on. Everybody wins. One thing I thought they would do was pair up Skin with the O.C., but apparently they figured Tru calling was a a better choice or maybe Skin's too racy for the 8 pm slot. Either way I'll end up watching all three.

I think it was the other way around, but hey, I haven't read Romeo and Juliet since 9th grade so... This show sounds promising. But I try not to get my hopes up. Seems like lately every show I like gets cancelled.

I think we all felt the sting of the cancellation bee last season at some time or another. I hope this coming season won't be the same way. If it is, I may start a letter writing campaign or buy a firearm. There'd probably be fewer fatalities with the firearm though. So I'll just watch the shows and the ratings and pray for the best.

Ok, I think I just saw the very first skin promo tonight. It aired during Paradise Hotel some time around 9:30 est and lasted for roughly 10-15 seconds. It didn't show any actual footage, just a lot of words with voice overs of the cast locked in their individual conflicts. Some of the words that popped up were greed, lust, power, conflict...ya know the usual stuff. They all kinda popped out out of this silverish screen till the end when it clearly formed the word SKINin the middle of the screen. Granted it didn't get me as reved up as the OC promos, but I'm sure had there been actual footage and a nice soundtrack listing in the background I would have been all up in arms to watch the damn thing. I'm sure it's still gonna be a kick ass drama and hopefully there will be some better promos in the future.

Extra had a sneak peek of the show tonight. I've seen the pilot and it's like a Romeo and Juliet soap updated to today's LA XXX scene. Jewels is the daughter of a porn king and Adam is the son of the DA who is out to bring porn king down. Jewels and Adam meet at a random party and hook up. They fall in love without realizing who each other's parents are. The parents find out and forbid them to see each other. The pilot sets up the conflicts of the show while by the end Jewels and Adam lose their virginity to each other. The put together a pretty good cast and the show is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer of CSI fame.
