Most fundamentally it's about two best friends, mother and daughter - Loralai (mother) & Rory (daughter). Loralai had Rory when she was only 16 and decided not to marry Rory's father and bring up Rory on her own. They live in small town where everyone knows everyone and all the different characters are so fabulous. They drink a lot of coffee, eat alot, and talk fast with more wit than you could imagine.
