2.17 - Dead Uncles and Vegetables

From spiced: here's a quick summary of episode 17:
luke's uncle dies and has requested being buried in stars hollow. it turns out that the man wasn't well liked, and almost no one comes to the funeral from the family. i don't think jess' mom comes and i'm pretty sure jess doesn't even attend the funeral, but he and rory put together some kind of wake for the uncle, but also for luke's benefit.

i can't totally recall the details, and i reserve the right to ammend my summary as i get more info. but, there is definately no tristin in the episode, i don't even think dean is really in it. the whole thing revolves around the death and funeral.

From spiced: okay, so the next episode is called dead uncles and vegetables. it's pretty much what i described before, but here's some details.
rory calls jess "that little punk."
lorelei and rory help out at the diner. jess does as little as possible, but he's still there.
emily questions lorelei's relationship with luke.
luke worries that he'll end up bitter and alone like his uncle. lorelei reminds him of all the sweet things he's done for her and rory.
luke freaks out when the casket won't close because louie (the uncle) has requested being buried with all of his things.
a farmers market springs up in town which worries taylor.
also, taylor and some other guys inform luke that his uncle was a jerk and they all hated him, so they don't attend his funeral. only luke and lorelei are there.
jess organizes a wake, and claims that the whole town helped out. rory smiles at this and calls him neighbor and a member of the town.

Yeah, I was sick and fell asleep at 5:30, so I missed it too. I really wanted to see that one!

Yup. I saw it. Stop worrying guys. You didn't miss much. Let's see what I can remember.

It was pretty much based on Luke's uncle dying. None of his family attended. Which Luke was upset about. It was only him and Lorelei at the funeral (and the Uncle's members of something, I forget that ended up coming to play instruments to honor him or something- it's late I apologize for not knowing the correct group or word for this)

Um. While Luke was making all the preparations for the funeral.. Lorelei filled in as the waitress behind the counter at his restrauant (she even numbered the tables and made up lingo for all the dishes- )

Lorelei's mom jumped in to try and arrange Suki's (sp?) wedding and they had ordered all sorts of expensive things until she came to her senses and canceled it all (hey and I spelled canceled right this time. Go Jen ) Her mom then went into the diner where she was covering for Luke and had a little talk with her (which was sort of funny) Lorelei was explaining that she was trying to plan her wedding (meaning not Suki's but Lorelei's in the future) The mother exclaimed it wasn't true and went on to tell her, her vision of the wedding she had planned (of course Lorelei hated it) Then Luke walked in and the Mother asked him what he thought of her idea and he said he hated it too (not knowing exactly what she was talking about- per wedding) So the mother walks out exclaiming " Hump. A Match Made in Heaven"

They also had parts with a guy setting up a veggie stand in front of the grocery shop (taking away all the business) they fight and squabble and then turns out the guy sold all his veggies and took his money and left to go explore the world or something. It was never his intention to stay.

That's about it I guess. It wasn't all spectacular or anything.

And I remembered another scene also.. Lorelei was in the restraunt behind the counter and one of the local customers came in and order coffee with 7 sugar packets. Anyway, Lorelei goes on to say something along the lines if he's just going to pocket them and he says no. So she says then he wouldn't mind if she just added them for him. She rips open all 7 packets of sugar and pours it in his coffee and he takes a drink (and trys not to gag). It was hysterical.
