this is from EOnline: Quote: Quote: cache.eonline.com/Gossip/Wanda/Images/smallville.050202.jpg Smallville Is Whitney Really Gone? Yes. According to Smallville honcho Alfred Gough, "Whitney is gone but not forgotten. Meaning, Eric [Johnson] can make appearances next season, but he is not a regular at all." Will Clark Be with Lana or Chloe? With Whitney out of the way, Clark will finally have a shot at dreamgirl Lana (who is saved from the tornado, in case you're wondering). But Gough was quick to point out: "There will be other obstacles...We don't have any plans for another cast member, but there might be some recurring guest stars." As for Chloe, that near-kiss might be the last action we'll see for a while. "Don't forget," Gough warned, "Chloe told Clark, 'If you leave me at the dance and run off for Lana, I'll never forgive you.' That's exactly what happened, and it's going to make Chloe rethink the whole relationship."

We've yet to see how the season will be but I like the sound of it. I like the way the characters have developed, especially Clark; watching the reruns made me recognize how he has matured over the season.
I hope not to see Lois Lane, because I always disliked her role in the comic. Maybe we'll see her and maybe she'll be all right. But what do we need Lois for, when we have Chloe? I hope they keep Lois as a sort of in-joke, the cousin in Metropolois we never get to see.
I really hope we see Bruce Wayne.

Fajrdrako--that would be interesting! I'd like to see that too. as for Lois--they could adapt the comic version and spice her up a bit for this show?!

What would spicing up do for Lois Lane that we don't already have (and better) with Chloe Sullivan?
Far as I can see, Chloe's only failing is that she doesn't have the initials L.L. But she does have two l's in her name.

I so agree here too. I don't want to see her period. Of course what I am about to say is going to sound stupid, but ohwell... (keep in mind I don't know the history of all the "Superman" stuff- only the movies and those are very vague to me). But when I first started watching Smallville I thought Lana was Louis. You know two LL. Being on the web, I find it's not. But then you have Chloe who works on the Newspaper is a reporter, blah blah blah, so she should be Louis. She's not. Point is the two main girl characters both resemble her already, there is NOT a point in adding a Louis Lane IMO. ,)

Lois Lane is Chloe's cousin. The producers plan on introducing her and Perry White sometime in the near future.

I think it's just another of the writer's many comic book in-jokes. I hope and believe that Lois will not become part of the show.
Of course Perry White is there already; we've been hearing about the Daily Planet (and we've seen their trucks) and if the Planet exists, Perry White must be there too.

I *sincerely* hope that they don't drag characters from Superman's adult life into the Smallville universe. There are more than enough interesting people and possible plot twists to keep things moving along nicely for years thank you, without bogging down the works with future relationships of Supe's. There is no "Superman" in Smallville, there is only Clark. And that's the way I like it.

I couldn't agree more. The less they do Superman DC canon, the happier I am. That being said, I love the in-jokes, of which the Daily Planet truck is only one example,or the even subtler things like names (Shaun Kelvin, Eric Summers). That being said, I don't want them to bring in any kind of comic book content. It's so much more fun as it is.

Lois Lane? isnt Lana enough? I mean Lana's character sorta acts like Lois. Anyways no other chic can replace what Clark and Lana have.

Oh I BEG to differ! Chloe may have Lois' smarts and 'tude. But Lana... she's got... well... she's pretty. Um... She's got dead parents. Did you know her parents were dead? She'll tell you aaaallll about it. As to what Clark and Lana have: so far it seems to consist of Clark listening sympathetically while Lana talks about herself and her life. Though Lana showed some gumption at the end of Heat. I *liked* her in this episode! Whoda thunk it? I especially like the team of Chloe and Lana. They were so cute visiting Clarkie in in Heat. They barely came up to his chin. They were like Clark's own little furbies.

I'd say "probably not" for one simple reason:
How can you find an actress more attractive than KK? Not possible...or at least extremely hard. For one, the actress would have to be absolutely stunning -- comparable to or exceeding KK's attraction-factor. Secondly, the chemistry between TW and the Lois actress would have to eclipse that of him and KK. And lastly, her character would have to be written *extremely* well...immediately likeable (but in a completely different way than Lana)...strong...and a better match for Clark.
In the comic, there was an easy and immediate difference between Lana and Lois...one was blonde, the other brunette. One was the stereotypical "all-American girl"...the other, a heady, ambitious "metro-gal." But by casting KK in the Lana spot, those distinctions are completely shreded...KK is brunette, exotic, and doesn't really fall in any stereotype. If you ask me, she would've made a better Lois...
Or maybe that's just the romantic-idealist in me who hates knowing Clark and Lana *don't* end up together. =)

Who says they don't? They didn't in the comic, or in any of the movie versions so far, but this is a whole new series with continuity and canon of its own. This is not the Clark of any previous version. So he might well end up with Lana Lang - who is not a Lana we have ever seen before - or not. The writers are free, as far as I can see, to do what they choose. Of course, I don't want him to end up with Lana, but that's beside the point. I think I like her better without Whitney, but I still think she has a lot of growing up to do.

Skip Lois in Smallville. Sorry, but it's Chloe who has Lois 's attitude and demeanor, anyway, so who needs Lois? That makes no sense. And the producers have said Clark will end up with someone named Lois Lane. So, unfortunately for those who adore Lana, Lana ends as a friend. But that doesn't mean we need Lois in Smallville nor should they change Lois to be older than Clark (don't get me started). I have read the Superman comics since I was a young child and I never cared that much for the Lana Lang character in any of her incarnations. She got better in recent revamps but I guess she just wasn't ever a favorite character of mine. In any event, while I, too, love the Supes references, I'd like them to stay just that: little shout outs.
