On April 19, Kurt Sutter uploaded a new video to YouTube and discussed "Sons of Anarchy" season 6. Specifically, he explained how character names are determined and if Lowell would be coming back to the show. The executive producer also spoke about the Boston bombing tragedy and offered his genuine condolences.
The executive producer revealed that he will be turning in the draft of the second episode and that the writing for "Sons of Anarchy" season 6, episode 4 will start this weekend.
Kurt Sutter also took the time to answer some questions from his website. One fan wanted to know how the names of characters were picked. He said that sometimes it just happens, other times it is friends and then there are the times they try to pick a unique name. With a unique name, sometimes it will be returned to them and they will be told to pick something else because there are actually one or two other people with that same name.
Another viewer asked if Sutter had plans to do more seasons, to which he replied that he really does not think that the show will go beyond seven seasons. He did not have a definitive answer, but by episodes six, seven and eight, he usually has some sort of idea where it is going and how the following season will look like.
It was also asked was if Lowell would be back. It turns out that they did have plans to have him return in season 3, but he was unavailable. So, the story never happened and when too much time passes, there is the issue of re-establishing the character, including where they have been and why they are back. Unless it flows into the storyline naturally, it is too difficult and time-consuming to do. They only have a limited amount of screen time and those extra minutes spent explaining can take away from the show.
