Credit to Stiney on Demens Principle Wood is giving two boys hell for something they've done. He threatens them with suspension, they boys tell him to go ahead. The Principle says he was bluffing with the suspension, he thinks he'd rather call the police. The boys break, say they'll repaint whatever it was that they damaged. There's a knock on the door. It's Dawn. Dawn informs the principle that Buffy is sick and has been vomiting. The principle tells her it's all right, to tell Buffy to concentrate on getting well. Dawn says she will, there's just something that Buffy has to get out of her system. Buffy is on the phone with the Watcher's Council seeking information about the BB. The Council tells her they know nothing. She hangs up. The Council expresses that Buffy knows nothing, and they need to find Giles. Buffy goes to the room where she has Spike tied up. Asks him if she can do anything to help. Spike vamps, but is unable to get out of his restraints to bite Buffy. Outside the door, Buffy explains to Willow that Spike is going through withdrawals, Willow suggests killing Anya, Buffy says no, they have to wean him off of human blood, they'd better get some animal blood. Willow asks if Buffy's okay, Buffy thinks Willow is asking about Spike. Buffy says Spike is having it pretty rough, Willow informs that she was asking about Buffy. Willow says okay, she's going to leave to go get some blood, Xander is downstairs installing a window. In the sewers, Jonathan is trying to get Andrew to sacrifice a pig, Andrew can't do it, he asks if there is another way, next shot we see he's at the butcher getting pork chops. He asks for some other strange items, the butcher informs him that they don't sell toothpaste. Andrew turns, drops his bag of meat and blood when he runs into Willow. Andrew begs her not to kill him, he tries to run. Willow follows him into the alley, she threatens him, tells him she'll kill him if he doesn't come with her. (She doesn't look very convincing) Willow brings Andrew back to the house. Xander ties Andrew to a chair, he and Anya start to interrogate him about the blood. Xander threatens, Anya yells at Andrew. Approaches him, slaps him a couple of times, makes Andrew cry. Xander pulls Anya out of the room. Buffy is in the bedroom, feeding Spike bagged blood. Out in the hall, Xander compliments Anya on her torture and interrogation skills. Anya is enthused, she made Andrew cry, slapping him felt right. Buffy comes out into the hall, they tell her they're gonna get the bird to sing soon. Buffy goes back in to talk to Spike. Spike says some of his memories have been coming back. She asks him when the chip stopped working. Spike says he doesn't know. She asks him how long he's been like that. Spike says that it's been like that since he got his soul back. Buffy asks him how he got his soul back. Spike says there was a trial, pain and suffering. Spike says it's all relative. Buffy asks him what he means. Spike says he's come to understand more means of pain and suffering since he fell in love with her. Buffy asks him if he wants sympathy. Spike says he doesn't. He realizes that Buffy used him. She hated herself and she took it out on him. He says he understands her now, he understands the violence. She quips that William the bloody never really understood violence before. Spike says it was different, her violence came from self loathing. Xander brings Andrew a glass of water, says Anya shouldn't have hit him. Xander unties Andrew and gives him the water. He tells Andrew that Anya is a vengeance demon. Xander explains how Anya cursed a man, how she killed a man. He says she took away everything he had, she made him get up and go through the motions of life, completely empty, without purpose or hope. Andrew asks if that's it. Xander says it isn't, after that she tore out his intestines and rubbed them in his face. Anya bursts through the door, calls Andrew a liar, she starts to beat the hell out of him, Xander grabs her, Anya turns and slaps Xander, Xander looks at her, hurt, Anya mouths that she's sorry. She jumps back on Andrew and starts wailing on him, Andrew is crying. Buffy hears the commotion, leaves Spike, BB Spike is in the room. Buffy opens the door, finds Anya standing with Andrew in a headlock, Anya tells them they're fine. Anya tells Andrew to start talking or she's going to keep hitting him. Buffy goes back to Spike, Spike gets out of his restraints. Back to Anya interrogating Andrew, Andrew is standing against the wall, Spike's arms punch through the wall and pull Andrew through. Spike pulls Andrew through the wall and bites him. The gang rushes to Andrew's aid. Spike is knocked to the floor, Buffy kicks him in the head and knocks him out. Anya and Xander tend to Andrew. Anya and Xander come downstairs, they say Andrew will probably be all right. Buffy says that Spike was singing a song before he went all crazy. Xander says that it sounds like someone, maybe the ghosts of the people Spike has killed have somehow brainwashed him and the song is the trigger. Anya asks if he means Trigger the horse, Xander says no. Buffy makes a battle plan, telling the gang to get on with the research. Principle Wood wanders the darkened highschool halls. He goes into the basement, finds Jonathan's body. Doesn't react, he's holding a shovel. Buffy goes down into the basement where she has Spike chained. She starts to wipe the blood off his face carefully. Spike wakes up, asks if he hurt anybody. Buffy says he took a good bite out of Andrew. Spike doesn't know who Andrew is, Buffy says it's Tucker's brother. Spike says he doesn't remember. Buffy says they think they know why he's doing it. Xander thinks he's being triggered. Spike tells Buffy to kill him. Buffy tells him she won't. Spike asks her if she has any idea of what he's capable of. Buffy says she saw what he did in the cellar. Spike says those people got off easy. Spike says Buffy doesn't know the real him, she got off lucky too. He asks her if she knows how much blood you can drain from a girl before she loses consciousness, he knows, he wanted them conscious, because it wasn't worth it if they didn't cry. He asks her if she knows what he's done to girls Dawn's age. He wants to know why she continues to help him, he's done horrible things. Buffy says she's helping him because he's fought by her side. Spike says she keeps him alive because she needs the pain he causes her. Buffy says she doesn't. Spike doesn't have insight, he doesn't know her. She asks him if it was him that did that thing to those people in the cellar. Spike says it was. Buffy says she knows it wasn't. He's alive now because she saw the real him, she saw his penance, he risked everything to be a better man, and he can be. Spike lunges for her. Buffy tells him that he believes in her. The basement window smashes. Black robed dude comes in. Upstairs black robed people swarm. Dawn and Willow jump off the couch, one of them comes in, knocks Anya down, then hits Xander and knocks him over too. *somewhere in this section, Principle Wood disposes of Jonathan's body* They fight the robed figures. Buffy comes upstairs, helps in the battle. Dawn ends up beating up one of the robed figures before getting knocked down herself. Upstairs a figure approaches Andrew with a knife. Andrew cringes. Dawn gets to her feet, approaches the robed man she just fought, the man gets up, knocks her over, is about to stab her when Xander gets to his feet and hits the robed man and knocks him out. Buffy wins the fight with the robed man upstairs. Xander comes upstairs, comments that he thought there were more of them. They realize they've missed something and run downstairs to find that Spike is missing. In the living room they all sit recovering. Buffy says it was all a distraction. They really wanted Spike. They look at one of the unconscious robed men, Buffy says they are being haunted by ghosts from the past. She knows who the BB is, it's the First Evil. The Watcher's Council is in meeting. It is announced that their worst fears are coming true. But they are masters of their own destiny and they will fight, will wage war on the First Evil. The camera pans to outside, the building explodes. Morphy Spike ties real Spike to a wooden rack. Says they have to do it in a way he would have enjoyed before he got his soul back. One of the robed men carves symbols in Spike's chest. Morphy Spike turns into Morphy Buffy and says that they were supposed to use Andrew for this, but she likes seeing him with his shirt off much better. The wooden symbol thing raises up to the roof and rotates so Spike is facing downwards. His blood drips onto the symbol on the floor where Jonathan died. Morphy Buffy asks him if he wants to know what a real vampire looks like. Spike's blood drips, the symbol on the floor opens, a creature, an original vampire type creature raises up out of the ground and roars. The End. |
