Up in the bedroom, Willow cries while holding Tara's body, begging Tara to come back. The room turns dark as Willow looks upward with red eyes of fury. "By Osirus, I command you, bring her back..."
Outside, the paramedics report Buffy's pulse is weak.
"Hear me, keeper of darkness" Willow pleads as a demonic face appears in the smokey clouds that now cover the room's ceiling. The demonic face speaks, saying that Tara cannot be brought back. Willow questions why, to which the demonic face explains that Tara was taken by natural order and cannot be brought back. Willow screams in pain/fury.
Opening Credits: Nothing new (Amber Benson's credits removed from last show)
Out front, Xander follows the paramedics as they load Buffy into the Ambulance. Willow walks outside, blood still spattered on her shirt, walking quite calmly, as if in shock. Seeing the paramedics and ambulance, She asks Xander "How did this happen?" "Warren, he had a Gun" Xander says.
"Warren..." Willow responds with hatred in her eyes as she walks off... Xander jumps in the ambulance at the paramedic's invitation.
At the police station, Andrew and Johnathan talk nervously over their situation. Jonathan is paranoid that another guy nearby is going to make Johnathan his "buttmonkey" while Andrew keeps hoping his Aunt will come get them out. Johnathan turns cold, saying that they're screwed, that Andrew's Aunt isn't going to come and get him out, and neither is Warren. Johnathan then starts talking about how Andrew and Warren were turning against him, which Andrew denies. Andrew still holds out hope that Warren will come get them after devising a plan to break them out.
Warren walks calmly into a seedy, vampire/demon bar (Willies?) and buys a round for the house. He starts gloating that he killed the Slayer and a vampire and the demon vampire take notice! They smile and start to question Warren how he did it. He tells how he explored all the dark arts and other magiks, but when it came right down to it, all he needed was a good ol' fashioned gun. The vampire and demon-bartender start to laugh, but something's wrong... they're laughing AT Warren, not with him. Turns out they both just heard a report on the TV that a girl was shot in her back yard, but survived and is in the hospital. They then reason that, with the Slayer's fast healing, she's gonna be pissed and want vengence against him. A worried look comes on Warren's face.
The door to the Magic Box bursts open as lights flash and spark. Willow walks in with a purpose! Anya instantly senses something's wrong and tries to calm Willow down, but Willow simply asks where the black arts books are. Anya starts forward, saying she can't let Willow take them, but Willow raises her hand and says "stop" and Anya is suddenly still, unable to speak and barely move.
Willow looks up to the upper loft as books of all sizes start floating and flying down onto the Magic Box's main round table. Dozens of books fly down and land in a large pile, with one book landing open towards Willow. Willow walks over and stretches her hands out, onto and INTO the book. The very words of the book start to creep up her hands and arms, slowly onto her chest and face. Suddenly they fade into her forehead as her hair turns pitch black to match her now black eyes. "That's better..." she mutters as she removes her hands from the text.
Commercial Break: Come to the Magic Box in Sunnydale, California. Just the place for all your vengeful supernatural needs! Mummy hands now on sale!
Dawn arrives home to an empty house. She calls out for Buffy here and there, eventually going upstares and noticing Willow's Bedroom door open. She walks in and is sees Tara's body as a look of shock comes across her face.
Rack comes out of his room into his lobby to ask who's next. Warren instantly bolts up, pushing ahead of the another "patron." Warren is there to get some extra power and protection, saying he needs help because he tried to kill the Slayer but failed. Rack says that the Slayer is the least of his problems, and that he should worry about the witch. Anyone who's with it can tell that "the witch" is the new power in town and she's gonna "blow this place apart." Warren questions why the witch would be so angered, understanding that he did shoot her friend, but that her friend is going to be ok and is a fast healer. Rack says there's something else, he detects death, and that is what the witch is wanting vengence for. Warren begs for help,l wanting both offensive and defensive help. Rack agrees to help, but he says that he can't guarentee anything. "She's running on pure fury... I've never felt anything like it."
At the hospital, Xander anxiously awaits as doctors work furiously to remove the bullet from Buffy's chest. Suddenly the lights start to flicker. Willow has arrived! "Leave" she orders and the doctors and nurses hesitently obey. Xander comes in, asking Willow what she's doing. Willow says she won't die and approaches Buffy's body. Slowly the bullet rises up out of Buffy's wound and floats in the air above her. "It's so small" Willow remarks as she looks curiously at the bullet before she grabs it.
Buffy stirs and starts to come to on the operating table. She is confused, but fine as Xander walks up, happily hugging her. Buffy asks what's going on as she sees a very different Willow, looking very calm and... different (black clothes, black hair, natural but darker eyes. Willow says she'll explain all but they have to get moving now.
At a bus station, Warren anxiously buys a ticket for the boarder and makes a mad dash for a bus.
Driving down a deserted desert highway, Willow orders the driver, Xander, to go faster. He argues back but she "magically" forces the accelerator down from the back seat. From the passenger seat Buffy tells Willow they have to calm down and think for a while as Xander questions Willow's new "makeover." Willow senses something and orders Xander to turn the car. Xander looks confused for a road, but Willow takes over magically, forcing the car off the road and continuing on. The car drives for a short while before they come upon another road and Willow stops the car.
Willow gets out and Buffy and Xander follow, but Willow walks into the middle of the road and tells the other two to stay back. Down the road a bus approaches, heading straight for Willow, but Willow stands firm. The bus driver loses control over the bus's steering as it heads directly towards her, but then screeches to a halt mere feet in front of witch. Willow calmly walks over to the bus door, which opens. "Get out" she orders. The bus driver and passengers look confused, except for one passenger, Warren. He gets up and head out of the bus, instantly starting to apologize to the witch, but Willow grabs him by the throat and slams him up against the bus, pure hatred in her eyes. She squeezes her hand around his throat and his left eye pops out, making the eyesocket "spark."
Buffy and Xander run up to Willow who looks down at the Warren-bot. "I could feel his essence. He tricked me. I'll find him another way.
"And then what?" Buffy asks frantically.
"And then we'll kill him."
"OK, you need to calm down."
"Calm down?"
"Look, you're angry... I... I am to. there's no excuse for what Warren did but that..."
"He shot Tara. when he shot you he hit her too, upstairs in my room. The last shot was the charm. "
"She's dead?"
"She's dead, now he's dead too." Willow says coldly
"Oh my god... Tara." Buffy says in shock
"Christ, will, why didn't you say anything?" Xander asks?
"I've been busy..." Willow comments.
Willow starts to walk off but Buffy stops her, saying that while what Warren did was wrong, killing him is not the way, not THEIR way. Willow will not listen, though, and walks off, casting a spell behind her which sends Buffy and Xander to the ground. When they shake off being dazed, they look around. Willow is no where to be found!
Commercial Break: United Airlines. Now only two and a half hours to get through security!
Buffy and Xander arrive at the Summers home at night. They call for Willow and Dawn, but no answer. Buffy goes upstares into Willow's room and finds Tara's body. "oh god..." she trails off.
"I didn't want to leave her alone" says Dawn, who huddles in the darkened corner in fear and shock, crying. Buffy tells Dawn they have to go down stairs as she hugs her sister. Xander walks in silently and stares at Tara's body for a moment, pain on his face.
Downstairs, Buffy and Dawn sit on the couch as the coroner takes Tara's body down the stairs in a body bag on a gurney. Xander is asked to sign some papers at the door as the coroner gives him some instructions as to where to call tomorrow for more answers. He then walks into the living room, sitting with the two girls. Buffy says they have to find Willow soon. Xander comments that if Willow finds Warren, he's a dead man. "Good" Dawn chimes in coldly. Dawn argues that Warren needs to die and she doesn't understand why Buffy doesn't agree. Xander also shows similar feelings. Buffy tells them that "Being the Slayer doesn't mean having a license to kill." She explains that the "human world" has it's own laws and while they don't always work, they usually are for the greater good. There are limits to what they can do. Willow isn't following those limits, and she doesn't have the right to take another human life. Buffy promises that Warren will get what he deserves, but she will NOT let Willow take charge.
Xander asks what the next move is. Buffy suggests finding some sort of locator spell at the Magic Box, which Xander says he can handle. Buffy then says that she wants to take Dawn somewhere safe. Dawn says she wants to go with Buffy, wanting to help Willow, but Buffy wants Dawn to be safe first. Dawn says the only place she feels safe is at Spikes, which angers Xander. While Dawn gets some things ready, Xander and Buffy talk in the hall. Xander argues that Spike isn't safe, especially after what he did to Buffy, but Buffy says that Spike wouldn't dare hurt Dawn, and he can't hurt humans anyways.
At Tara's dorm room, Willow casts a locator spell, using the blood-stained shirt she was wearing. On the shirt, the blood swirls into a pattern, a map, and a point of it glows brightly.
An old black and white movie plays on Spike's television in his crypt. Buffy and Dawn silently enter, then Buffy call's Spike's name, but up out of the chair leaps CLEM, who is startled. He smiles as Buffy apologizes for scaring him, then she asks where Spike is. Clem says that he left town and that he's watching his place for him, otherwise someone else would snatch it up. "Besides, I don't have TV." he admits. Clem is friendly and offers them some snacks and Country Time lemonade, but they politely refuse as Buffy asks where Spike went? Clem answers he doesn't know, but it could be for a long time. Buffy then asks Clem for a favor and wonders if he could watch after Dawn for a while to keep her safe. Dawn at first objects, but Clem gladfully agrees, saying they can play parcheesee and rent "The Wedding Planner." Dawn smiles at his invitation as he cleans off the "comfy" chair for her. Buffy and Dawn hug, with Buffy promising to be back as soon as she can.
Walking through an african tribe's area, Spike is confronted by a native who issues some sort of warning, which of course we (or spike) don't understand. Later in a cave, Spike wanders around in the near dark, looking at cave paintings, when he is suddenly startled by a large, mysterious, dark demon with green, glowing eyes. The demon knows Spike was searching for him. The Demon knows why. "Something about a woman... the Slayer." Spike argues that it's the chip in his head, and the Demon asks if he wishes to return to his former self. Spike says yes, but the Demon laughs. "Look what she's reduced you to. You were a legendary dark warrior and you let yourself get castraited." Spike argues again that it's the chip, but the demon laughs again, wondering how he had the guts to come to him for his restoration. Spike comments that the demon will see, that he can take anything he's gonna throw at him. "The bitch is gonna see a change."
"you feeling any change? Can you talk?" Xander helps a disoriented Anya to a chair as Anya explains what happened and admits that she knows what happened to Tara. Xander is uncomfortable but straightforward, asking Anya if there's some way she can help find Willow with a spell or something. Anya says that she doesn't have to use a spell, she can sense where Willow is and can feel her thirst for vengence. At first Xander asks if that is something that's left over from her vengence demon days, but Anya says "no, not left over." Xander then realizes that she's gone vengence demon and asks "When?" "When do you think?" she answers him coldly.
Buffy walks into the Magic Box, asking if everything's ok. Xander says that Anya can help find Willow, but when asked how by Buffy, Xander tells that Anya got her vengence back on again. Xander then wonders why Anya doesn't go to Willow and help her out, as that is her "thing" to do. Anya agrees that normally she would have to as part of her job, but Willow wishes to do this alone. Buffy gets to the point, asking which side Anya's on, saying that they need to know quickly if she'll help them. Anya says yes, she will help them, but only to help Willow. She says she can tell Willow is close to Warren in the woods.
Willow walks through the nighttime woods with a purpose. Warren is seen running through the woods. Willow slows when she enters a clearing "Run all night, Warren... I'm still gonna..." Thwap! Willow falls face down into the ground, an axe deeply embedded in her back. Warren stands over Willow's body, looking tired.
Commercial Break: Apple Computers. We still make really good stuff, but you still can't eat them.
Warren looks down and smiles at his handywork, but then Willow rises up and turns toward Warren as she pulls the axe out of her back. "An axe isn't gonna cut it..." she quips.
Warren takes off, running frantically through the woods with Willow calmly in pursuit. He pulls out a square box and presses it's sides. Metallic wings spring out the sides and it takes off into the air as he smiles to himself. The box flies off and starts to dart around Willow's head. Then it EXPLODES in a fireball, just as Willow is heard to shout "Freeze!" The fireball is suddenly still, grows cold and dim, then turns to a clear ice that surrounds her. It shatters as she continues to walk through the barrier.
He continues to run, looking behind him for signs of pursuit, but then turns his head back and runs STRAIGHT into a pissed off Willow. Warren slowly starts backing up, saying that it was an accident. "Oh, instead of killing my best friend, you killed my Girlfriend." Willow retorts. Warren reaches in his pocket for something as he turns to run, but Willow blasts him with a dark and light blast of lightning, sending him to the ground. Warren shouts "catch this!" and throws a round globby thing at Willow. It hits her and slowly envelopes her entire body in a clear fluid, but unable to be stopped, the vengeful witch's eyes glow red and burn holes right through the barrier and she continues to walk towards Warren, who has run off again.
Willow casts a one-word spell and we suddenly see Warren's arms and legs get ensnared by vines from the trees and ground. Outstretched limbs hold a scared, cocky Warren up as Willow approaches. Warren tries to act smart by threatening Willow, saying she will soon join her girlfriend, but Willow sees something in Warren's eyes. "She wasn't the first." Willow can spot that Warren has killed before and shouts "Reveal!"
Katrina comes walking out of the forest, asking how Warren could do something so vile, to someone he supposedly loved? Warren tries to shake the image off and begs for Willow to make the image go away. Katrina continues pressing Warren as to how he could do it. "Because you deserved it, bitch!" Warren yells back... to nothing! Willow then confronts Warren, saying that he actually enjoys the killing, that he gets off on it, and that Buffy's death was to be the "big O."
Anya leads Xander and Buffy through the forest, pointing a route out and saying that they are close, that Warren is still alive.
Warren starts to shout for help in a panic. Willow asks him what's wrong, she thought he wanted to talk? He becomes silent as she pulls out the bullet that struck Buffy. Willow rips open Warren's shirt and then releases the bullet in mid air. It floats over towards the center of Warren's chest, hovering for a moment before it enters his chest. He howls in pain as Willow slowly describes the pain of the bullet's path as it enters a body. Warren continues to cry in pain, but Willow silences him by magically sewing his mouth shut. Warren is in INTENSE pain as the bullet burrs itself slowly into his chest, but he is unable to make a sound as Willow continues to describe and gloat over the pain he must be in.
Willow then starts remembering Tara. "Amazing, isn't it? One tiny piece of metal, takes everything away." She wonders why Tara is alive and scum like Warren is alive? Willow questions Warren if he can feel it inside him as she releases his mouth's bonds. Warren screams in pain, then begs for help and forgiveness. Just then, Buffy approaches from the distance, calling Willow's name. Warren tries to slowly reason with Willow as her friends approach, but Willow simply says "Bored now..." and flicks her hand towards Warren as she walks away. Warren's skin is RIPPED from his body upwards, a mass of blood and muscles being left strung up between the trees.
Xander, Anya and Buffy look on in horror as they ask Willow what she did? Just then, Warren's body starts to burn, and it quickly consumed in a firey blaze! "One down..." she remakrs, as she looks at her friends, then a swirl of magical energy surrounds her and she dissapears into thin air!
Grrr... Arrrg...
