Salt and olive oil help the water boil faster and keep the noodles from sticking together

Spicy - They do help water boil faster? :o I had no idea. How's that? I know they prevent noodles from sticking together, well, the oil does anyway. So does splashing them with a bit of cold water once you have taken the noodles out of the pot, however.  i guess I did learn that from my family.

The salt helps reduce the temperature that the water needs to reach to boil, therefore it will start boiling faster. |
