| Post subject: | What is so irresistible about Roswell? |
I don't know about you guys, but before Roswell, TV shows were just TV shows for me. But once I saw the teaser for Roswell, I was hooked for life. I don't know for sure, but I think it's the combination of everything, the sci-fi elements and definitely the relationships. So what is it about this show that has us all obsessed? |

I love sci-fi. Mainly, it was the interaction/chemistry between Jason and Shiri that got me hooked. If it hadn't been for them..I wouldn't of kept watching. Maria and Michael always cracked me up. Plus, you kind of have people like these guys in your life...makes it more real. I have "geeky" friends, funny friends, responsible friends, hot-headed friends, quiet friends, and the friends that are the most beautiful inside and out and don't even realize it. It was just something, in a way, I could relate to. |

I think what hooked me into Roswell was bringing sci-fi into the world of growing up and trying to fit in and blending some romance in at the same time. I loved how they showed the alienation the aliens feel and exploring the human emotions and showing that jsut cuz your different doesn't make you any less human. The Pilot scene that just hooked me in from the start that made me so obsessed were the last scenes. When Michael, Isabel, and Max were watching the spaceship crash, and you could tell from their faces it wasn't some kind of joyous occasion for them. It was... I dunno... you could really feel it that first season. All the emotions and stuff. |

Yep, it's wildly different from other shows in that way because in most shows, it's one or the other. But Roswell managed to capture the essence of everything brilliantly. Plus, the chemistry between all the actors, the talented cast and the unusual storyline also came together in such an amazing way!

I will probably get killed for this, but I started watching Roswell somewhere in the middle of S2. I didn't even know it was being broadcasted; it just happened to be on after Dawson's creek which I was watching on a regular basis, and one day I was to lazy to get up and switch of the TV immediately, and then they showed a teaser for Roswell, and I thought: OMG, they have invented another crappy teen show revolving around Roswell of all places and surely with a load of aliens in it...But i was curious and wanted to see what they had made of it, so I watched. It was Skin & Bones, as far as I remeber, and I did sort of like it, but was definitely not hooked, although I really liked Max and Liz (you know, I'm voluntarily admitting my roots as a dreamer here. But, gotta say to my defense, there wasn't much Candy around. Only a weird guy whose hair was way too long and unkempt and who definitely had the part of the pretty but oh-so-cool high school beau. - How wrong I was!  )Then I didn't watch Roswell for several weeks. One day I decided to give it another try since I didn't have anything else to do and the show hadn't been that bad, actually kinda nice if I thought about it...BAAAAAAAD idea. I've been addicted ever since. I started to search the net frantically for Roswell stuff. As I began to watch S1-episodes I gradually changed from Dreamer to Candy, because I could totally identify with Maria, constantly babblingand totally hysterical. It's the southern blood in me probably, but Germans are cold and not very open to people who are more lively, so I am constantly told I talk too much and too fast and am too hysterical and stuff like that. Maria made me realize that those character traces don't necessarily have to be flaws. As for Michael: I  bad boys. Especially the troubled ones who only pretend to be a stonewall, but are kind and caring once they let you in.

So I'm not the only ones who thought the previews to be crappy? Alien Stalker, I know what you mean about the teasers... they just gave me this idea that it would be a majorly crappy show based on something alreay been down a million times... aliens in roswell.. big whoop! Then I watched the Pilot out of boredom. And BOOM! I'm addicted before I know it. |

I don't live in the same country as you guys and I thought the teasers were pretty good. I actually noticed Roswell mentioned in a couple of mags but I wasn't interested because it wasn't on TV yet. Million thanks to the person who decided to put Roswell on one of the channels! October 18, the day it started, will forever be etched in my mind. I know, I'm seriously dramatic. I remembered that I had a very huge exam a month after Roswell started but nothing could pry my hands off the TV, I tell you. I watched nearly all the repeats. Call me a geek, but I'm quite obsessed with my results for exams but even that couldn't stop me from watching Roswell. Anyway, it just goes to show how powerful the show is . . . |

Dreambehr, Dreambehr, I can see your grades dropping dramatically for watching Roswell ...although watching Roswell instead of studying does not necessarily mean you'll get bad grades. All the exams I took after getting hooked I did really great, and I had always been watching Roswell before, so... Maj - Quote: Quote: I dunno. I guess Roswell put a spell on us! That's probably it. AlienStalker- Wow, that's an interesting theory! You have a wild imagination! I think she probably did 'mindwarp' us a little but the rest was pure Roswell magic, if that makes sense. Anyway, my results didn't suffer much I think but I do find myself daydreaming about Roswell in the middle of a test. Now that's scary! |

I think that it is the fact that we are all Dreamers in a sense. We all envy to a point the relationship that Max and Liz had. Guess we are all romantics in our s. I don't think I have ever watched a show that touched my heart on so many levels and had so many emotions going on at the same time. Talk about emotional overload. Congrats, Cyane32! That was really fast!  Anyway, I agree that I envy the relationship between Max and Liz but I think it's kinda wishful thinking to think we could ever get something like that! Call me pessimistic but I feel that way. But it would be SO nice to get it though. *Sigh* |
