I don't believe that this is true. I only read about it on a mailing list, so I have no idea where it started, but I can't imagine that they'd do it. Unless by movie they just mean a two hour television movie, like the Pretender movies or the B5 movies - it's really just a 2 hour episode but they call it a movie.

More About the Possible Roswell Movie
Friday, January 11, 2002 9:11 CST

More info about the possible "Roswell" feature film has been trickling into Coming Soon!. First up is 'Duncan D' who got the following from a Technical Advisor on the show...

I recently attended Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors convention. I talked to a man who works as a technical advisor on UPN's Roswell. We talked a little about the show, and he told me that the show is not faring well on Television. Jonathan Frakes has an idea to make a feature length film after the season, should it be canned. They want to make it a big movie - an adventure like star trek - with the original stars and some larger stars in it. It's all a bit speculative at the moment, but none the less, found it interesting.

If that is true, than it seems that Frakes is not the only one interested. Check this out from 'perthpatty'...

My sister in CA informs me that the blatantly gorgeous Colin Hanks was on Howard Stern last week, talking about his new movie. They mentioned his show Roswell - that he's now left; and he said he's heard whispers that the director wants to do "Roswell: The Movie". He laughed about his character returning - being dead and all. Thought it was funny and interesting.

This has to be some kind of public relations end move by Jonathan Frakes and Co. to attempt to slide Roswell past the cancellation bubble by tricking UPN into thinking the fans are still completely enthused about the show, or it is a sleight of hand to get the fans focused on something other than the shows cancellation to take the heat off of the producers.

Now I have read something about the season finale being a 2 hour episode. Wondering if this is where the movie idea came from. Maybe someone is confusing a 2 hour episode with a movie? And then the story got around that it was going to be a movie? hmmm

They already made this movie. It is called "Plan 9 From Outer Space". Except Ed Wood did a far better job than JK will.

Funny you say that.. when I first heard of the news, I thought no way.. not that I wouldn't love to see it. So I posed the question only because I personally highly doubt that they would make it a movie. I think it is all talk. Don't get me wrong though, if they did make one, I'd be one of the first to see it. :lol :lol

I think the writers, PR, and basically people involved with supporting the show really take what fans say to heart.

For instance, we wanted roswell on DVD/VHS and guess what seaons one's coming out.
if it wasn't for a few that want to leave the show, I think UPN/FOX would keep roswell on for another season.

Why not -- right? What else could replace it. Certainly not those new shows...that a crock of poop.

*sorry for the harsh language...it's just that it really fries my tomatos when talking about roswell being cancelled*
