Special Message from Kevin Kelly Brown TO MY FELLOW ROSWELLIANS: I have been wanting to say something to you since the news of our beloved show's cancellation, but, honestly, I was too upset and too angry and I just didn't know what to say. But I attended the L.A. Fan Gathering last night (Tues., May 7th) and in talking to them I think I've discovered what I would like to say to all of you. In truth, I have been caught off guard at the depth of my emotions over "Roswell's" cancellation. It has really been bittersweet. As most of you know by now, this project started when I used my own money - money I did not have at the time - to win a bidding war over two studios and three production companies and acquire the rights to Melinda Metz's books. That decision - to, in essence, bet on myself after having struggled for so many years and nearly given up on more than one occasion - ultimately led to a show that touched your lives and changed mine forever. Along with Jonathan Frakes and Lisa Olin, whom I brought into the project, we are the only ones who have been there from the beginning. I am of course upset because I loved the show, I loved the cast, and no matter what I do for the rest of my career, "Roswell" will always be my first series. But I am also angry - no, not at The WB or UPN. Indeed, I am grateful to both for without The WB there may never have been a "Roswell" and without UPN there would not have been a Season Three. We owe them big time. No, I am angry because "Roswell" had such great potential; there was nothing preventing it from being the next "X-Files," "Buffy," "Star Trek" or, yes, even "Smallville." Even the most jaded folks in our business saw that pilot - still considered one of the best pilots ever made - and said, "This one is special; this one can go all the way." But we didn't. And what makes me angry is that I don't know why. Yes, of course, I recognize that going three seasons is an extraordinary accomplishment; that very few series make it that far. And, of course, I love the shows that we did and take great pride in that accomplishment. But we did not fulfill our potential even though it was totally within our control to do so. Which makes your love of the show all the more unique and special to me. The fact that we faltered, that we didn't complete the journey we started together, but that you still cared and were inspired by the work we did, that you were inspired to raise all this money for charity and thus change countless lives - well, it overwhelms me. So, honestly, all I can say is, "Thank you." There's an expression they use in the White House: "You serve at the pleasure of the President." Well, I believe I serve only at the pleasure of the fans - you who actually take the time out of your busy lives to sit down and watch this TV show. And it has been an honor and a privilege to serve you. It has humbled me, it has inspired me, and it has changed me forever. Kevin Kelly Brown |

Quote: Quote: But we didn't. And what makes me angry is that I don't know why. I guess what makes me angry is that they didn't know why and should have. The show could of taken off this season if they in the beginning had just sucked it up and made the Tess and Baby storyline a mindwarp. I *think* that was the biggest screw up and thus lost so many of the viewers. |

That just about makes me cry... Words so true! The pilot was amazing and they could've gone all the way and been big, but didn't. Yeah the Tess and the baby lost viewers, but how much did we have to begin with? The ratings weren't any better on the WB or were they? |

I'm sorry but KKB is an even bigger idiot then JK. I really didn't think that was possible. He doesn't know why the show ended? Um let me fill him in. Inconsistant plot lines, plot holes galore, the Max/Tess relationship(if that's what you want to call it), the search for SPoT, and Plank (Isabel) and her prop as the leading couple. That's where Roswell failed. No wonder the show turned into complete crap. Two idiots ran it into the ground! |

That was a beautiful message from KKB. The pilot was excelent I especially loved the Max/Liz connection in the Crashdown. With the flashes. Plus the Sarah songs During all of season 1. I have to agree the whole Max/Trash relationship was icky and the baby. Plus pretty much all of season 3 being centered around Isabore! Plus all the damn chads and plotholes. They really shouldn'tve ended the show until at least most of the chads and plotholes were solved, plus no M/L cementing in the finale. When we were promised that we were going to see it and the short wedding scene When we had to sit through Isabores wedding and reception and honeymoon. The only thing I liked about Interuptus was the whole Isabel/Kivar relationship, now those two actors had chemistry! Oh yeah and we were also forced to see Max and Trash mate with graphic details to! While we didn't get either for M/L! The show was built by Dreamers and Candyclaners. Not by Isabore! Those were the big screw ups in the show. Well other then breaking M/M up. I wanted to see Liz explore more into her powers and her and Maxs lives after marriage and Liz finding out she's in the four square or Royal Four instead of Tess. I wanted to see if Kyle was going to get powers or if it's just Liz and I wanted them to explore more into Kyle's infactuation with Isabel and have them get together. ~Hannah Dreamer Candyclaner Stargazer InCrowder Lamptrimmer Dreamer Awakening Double Dipper Eternal Believer B/A 4ever! |

I thought that was one of the most touching posts I have ever read. I loved Roswell and I am like the rest so sad that it didn't do better. I personally think that there was not a whole lot we could have done. There are tons of different view. Like my hubby said that if they had made it more sci-fi and not dwell so much on the romance that it would have done better. But I disagree. Max, Liz, Isabel, Alex, Michael, Maria and even Tess touched our hearts in a way that no other show has in my humble opinion. Like in this crazy world you can live for love. And sometimes it isn't pretty and sometimes it doesn't work out the way you planned but love lives forever. I am going to miss Roswell a lot. And I am still holding out for a movie and if they bring it out on DVD that they will give us outtakes or deleted scenes. But I have rambled on enough, Thank you sooo much for all your efforts on our (the fans) behalf You say Roswell and it's fans changed your life. I think Roswell has changed us all. Cyane :0) |
