It will not. One second-season installment titled “Redux” (2.2?) will feature a student named Krissy Jameson who keeps herself looking 17 by sucking the life-force out of her classmates. She might remind some of Marvel's X-girl Rogue. A little.

With Whitney off protecting our nation from evildoers, do Clark and Lana finally hook up?
They do not. As evidenced by this dialogue from “Redux”:

KRISSY: He's kind of a hottie, isn't he?
LANA: Who? Clark?
KRISSY: You should go out with him. You're single now.
LANA: Clark and I are friends. And I'm not single.
KRISSY: Long distance relationships never work. Someone always strays. Usually the guy.
LANA: Whitney and I are committed to trying.
Didn't Coax's on-set spy say something about Clark's gramps paying a visit?
Our spy did! “While [the first-season finale] is done shooting, the series is still filming,” wrote “Citizen Rain.” “They are shooting one more episode which revolves around the Kent's having money problems and Clark's rich grandfather shows up. My guess is that this episode is going to be the 2nd to last one and is being done so they have extra time to do the post production on Tempest.”

Well, what the dilly-oh?
Clark Kent's rich city-slicker grandaddy actually turns up in the second-season episode “Redux.” He's William Clark, Metropolis-dwelling father of Martha Clark Kent. William still harbors bitter resentment toward Jonathan Kent for eloping with Martha and dragging her off to the sticks. When the Kents come into financial straits, Martha writes her dad for funds.

Does Martha's missive lead to a patching-up?
Long before episode's end, Jonathan will implore his father-in-law to “Get the hell off my farm!”

In the season finale, it looked like Lex might find out that Clark is a strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Does it happen?
Doesn't look like it.

Seems like half the residents of Smallville have superpowers. Why doesn't Clark just come clean?

Did Lex allow his pop to die?
No strong intel on this yet. In “Redux” there's a reference to Lex and Lionel battling over the fertilizer plant, but it's not clear (from what little we've been able to glean) whether or not the battle is ongoing.

What is Lex up to?
Smallville High's new principal, a fellow named Reynolds, has a history with Lex, and knows something about Lex that even Lex doesn't know. (It involves Lex's evil dad, Lionel.) Reynolds also makes mention of Clark's “impressive journalistic skills” and encourages the superboy to start thinking about his future.

What is Reynolds' connection to Lex?
He was on the faculty of Lex's old prep school, Exeter. He once assigned Lex to write a paper titled “Where I See Myself In Five Years.”

What did Lex write?
Fifteen words. “In five years, I will be nothing like my father. And I will be happy.”
